Angry Uncooperative trunk

Have any of you STi owners have problems with your trunk not opening? On the way home today, I tried to put something in the trunk; as I put the key in and tried to turn, it would not budge. I went out to the front to use the remote trunk opener and that would not work also. Since having the car, I kinda did not like the way it felt when I used the key to open the trunk (cheap), but hell, that was not the reason why I bought the car. But now I can't get the things out of the trunk. Lucky there was no groceries in there. Will go in on Friday to have them look at it, but was just wondering if any of you experienced the same thing.

Aloha!!

Did you check the hinge of the trunk? Once I had something lodged in there and I couldn't even open the trunk, the only way was to throw my sister in there from the rear seat and have her look at the hinges. Sure it was, a piece of plastic(processor boxes) was blocking the way.

Trunk

I also noticed that the trunk is hard to open the key is hard to turn and the handle is hard to pull up. It is harder to open than my RS was it seems like the cable is adjusted way too tight.

I had to adjust mine since it seems too snug when closed. I would pull on the release from inside and almost break it and still no open. There were some instructions somewhere that I think Richard might have posted. I think it does loosen up tho since mine seems a bit too loose now.

Yeah I think we talked about this a few months back. I remember dave and I having a bunch of problems getting it open and shutting it......pissed me off. Over time it does loosen up. My trunk is still very tight but atleast I dont have those times where I can't open it at all from the inside (that happened a number of times the first month or two). It was scary when the handle feels like its about to break.

Richard did say a few things about adjusting the trunk. I think its a good idea but I'd keep adjustment to a minimum because it WILL loosen up over time...maybe loosen it just enough so you dont get stuck not being able to open it.

I think the info is in here:
