Tuning Days 2008 (Session 1)
Wassup all you HIIC folks! Here's what went down Friday night @ RMS (Rad Motor Sports)
4 Cars, 1 Dyno,... and the champ himself... Jarrad from PDX!
We were even graced by the unexpected presence of Cedric (Hawaii's own Supra builder/tuner)! All in all, quite the night.
So, here's the preliminary data... I've had the chance to review the data from the first 4 cars of this session, even took note of the temps as they went down during the evening. Last nights runs were displaying with a SAE smoothing of (0), the below numbers for consistency is with SAE smoothing set to (1) - same as the 2007 tuning days results.
Dyno Charts are available upon request, just PM me and i'll e-mail them to you.
As before, Keep in mind that you must view your runs with SAE Smoothing set to (1) to see the same numbers in comparison to last years tuning even.
Ambient temps: about 87*F to about 82*F
Humidity: 33% to about 41%
All data as recorded by the dyno setup.
NOTE / REMINDER: SAE Smoothing set to (1) for consistency
display last night was set to (0)
Dan - 331HP, 352TQ
Jimi - 316HP, 343TQ
Roy (pump gas) - 253HP, 230TQ
Roy (4gal pump, 5gal race) - 261HP , 247TQ
Brent - 314HP, 361.91 (essentially 362)TQ
A spreadsheet is being compiled (as with the earlier event) and will be posted upon completion of this years "session 1".
Great to see everyone that came out tonight, to be tuned or just show support for these great planned events. HUGE mahalo to Jarrad, PDX, Dan (ojichanSTi), and RMS's crew for helping to make these events possible.
More as it becomes available!

Thanks for the time and effort Burt,
It's nice to see another number cruncher...
Numbers today should be interesting....a few Stage 4's, but mostly stage 2 cars...
I'll try and be there around noonish...good luck to everyone.

Correction... again, CHP numbers don't really matter, but for accuracy's sake:
Dan (ojichan sti) has broken the 400chp mark with 331AWHP
calculating for 18% drivetrain loss... that equals 403HP at the CRANK!
from the preliminary reports I've gotten today... i believe we have another 400 chp winner..
with 342awhp on the dyno...
calculating for a 18% drivetrain loss... that makes for 417 HP at the CRANK!
again, not that it 'really' matters,... but i think we have our first 'winners'!

number crunching is addicting...stop me if you dont' want to know all this..
for manuals, I'm calculating for 18% drivetrain loss
for automatics, I'm calculating for 22% drivetrain loss
that means for a manual to break into 400CHP, AWHP has to be higher than 328
that maans for an automatic to break into 400CHP, AWHP has to be higher than 312
the higher the Drivetrain loss, the lower the AWHP dyno reading needs to be to indicate the 400CHP realm.
so far,... 2 participants have reported making the numbers that would indicate making 400 horsepower at the crank... more as I get more numbers/details.

Winner of the day (and possibly for the foreseeable future)... 391AWHP 375TQ on pump gas and a STOCK exhaust!
This car is FAR from anything else seen on this dyno but you'll have to talk to Ryan from Vakamon for more details on this setup..
ladies and gentlemen the bar has been set... again not that it matters... but if drivetrain loss were linear that is 476CHP!!!!! again on PUMP Gas and a STOCK STI Exhaust!!!
