Who cares what it looks like? I mean, yeah, subarus have been lacking in the visually pleasing dept. for the last 8 years, but if this thing is RWD, boxer turbo, and power to weight of a miata, then i could give a flying fudge what it looks like. All aboard!!!!

Car Info: MkIII MR2, s14, 94 mx5, 99 mx5. The beauty of rwd.
That test mule's pretty hideous, hopefully it looks more like the ft86 concept that they're showing on autoblog for the tokyo auto show. I think it will make for an excellent 2nd gen scion tc replacement, though as a subaru, i'm not sure exactly where it will fit in... I'm assuming it'd be an entry level sport compact, but hopefully they won't engineer it to accommodate awd, as that would push the engine too far forwards and ruin balance. I personally would prefer an inline engine due to ease of access, more common tech and parts, shorter plumbing for intercooler or turbo parts, etc. but really don't mind if it's a boxer.
I'd have to think i'm going against the grain here, but I think that subaru/toyota would benefit from it just being a light 200 hp (2600lb) rwd coupe, they could always make a higher powered variant later, or as a special edition, but if they make these cars too powerful/expensive, they'll just price themselves out of the market... right now, unless you like convertibles, you don't have any sporty light rwd coupes for sale... The genesis coupe is more of a GT and weighs too much, the z costs over 30k, and only the miata is in that range, but it's not a practical car, and insurance isn't too good due to it being a 2 seat sports car convertible.
I think they would make more sales at a lower price point ( like the initial target of 19k ) and as always, there will be an eager aftermarket to support the power hungry enthusiasts. Hopefully they will greenlight this project, and in a year or two, we'll see the first ones on the road... ( the Tc is scheduled for a 2011 redesign... hmmm.... )

Looks like it would be a fun ride.
Although I think it might have potential....I don't like it from rear of the doors on back, too different from the flow of the front of the car.
If Subaru does this...they need to ADD THE SCOOP!
I think they need to keep the Sedan and the Hatch (Wagon) because I don't see this, if it is to hold the Impreza name alone, keeping the non-tuner market at all.

I am long time toyota guy! And I always say to my friends if toyota comes out with a rear wheel drive car again That would be a very good thing!! And together with Subaru better yet!!
Have ben AE86 owner in the past back in 1988 then again in 2005 and love them! There is one problem the 4ag is under powered big time.
I also thought how much better the tc would be if it was rear wheel drive!
just my 2 cents..
