i know a little bit, im not exactly sure what ground coats and mid coats are. those sound like primer coats or something that would be in a 4 or 3 stage candy or pearl paint. they could also be some kinda of coat to make the paint bond to the surface of what u are painting. some paints may require this before painting on bare metal or will chip away. also when doing body work, you may end up with many different colors, spraying a coat of primer or something will make the car one color so when you are painting a thin paint, it wont show different shades on the areas with bondo.... base coat is the color. you would spray clear over the base cuz base dries with no gloss. yea, single stage is paint with the color that dries to a gloss, so clear is not needed. this is used on older cars and is cheaper. i think most cars now days have 2 stage paint.

NAPA...Paint Store

At least in Anchorage....

I was able to take the paint code from my car and go to the Napa paint store...have them mix up the paint, purchase it as a brush applicator, Can, or bulk.

Wasn't all that expensive either...I bought some for my 2000 Black Toyota Tundra LTD...

Did you try contacting Napa here in Honolulu? Maybe they have a specialty paint store as well...

Worth a shot...

redline doesn't stock much, and they have to bring most of it in. i'd rather go to napa, but the online stuff looks pretty good, especially since it can come in aerosol form. that way i don't have to pull out and clean my spray gun everytime i have a small job to do.

Napa places them in cans as well...

Again, at least in Anchorage, they mixed the paint and put them in aerosol cans as well...

I should stop by there...My front end has a bunch of scrapes...
