Tips on how I can remove Tie Rod Ends without a spindle to use as an anchor

I have replacements, I just can't get that lock nut to budge without my wrench slipping! I already took my old knuckles to the dump or I would just put the tie rod end back into it and break the nut that way. Anyone have an idea?

tie rod end has a notch in it for a wrench and the inner tie rod is shaped in a way so you can also put a wrench on it. find correct size and profit! =D

Reinstall the nut on the part that goes into the knuckle. Put a socket and long extension on that nut. Use bungees, tie wraps, hose clamps(or whatever will work) to hold the tie rod end and socket extension against the strut. Then turn the lock nut.

a pipe wrench may also do the job

i assume the car is on jackstands? if you are throwing away the outters then you can just put the end on the ground and roll your floor jack over it. jack up until you get a little weight on it and then just wrench off the nut. otherwise use the inner and a wrench like chad said. there's more room to grab on the inner and it should be easy with a piece of pipe to hold the wrench to the ground.

Going to try this tomorrow and see if I can break the lock nut, if not this, I will just wait.

I'm not trying to jack the OP's thread, but do you have a shop? I would much rather take my car to a fellow subie owner if something comes up then a random shop.
