Thinking about upgrading my turbo to Blouch 16g. Need Help!

My knowledge about upgrading subaru vehicles is still fairly new to me as well as upgrading a turbo.

-Due to a bad turbo seal I was thinking about getting a Blouch 16g.
-Not to sure if I want the XT (Journal bearing) or XTR (Ball bearing).
-How much in performance are they different?
-Is the price difference between the two show which one is worth buying?

Whats the max HP rating for 2011-2013 WRX stock internals and stock turbo?

GOAL:
-My goal is to get the safest power out of my car without exceeding the OEM internal organs and not having to upgrade anything internally.
-My goal is to get in the range of Minimum 300 - Max 350 AWHP

-Is the Blouch 16g turbo what I need for these AWHP numbers?
-What kind of supporting mods do I need when upgrading my turbo to a Blouch 16g?

You should be able to hit the 300whp mark with the right supporting mods. And your internals should be safe at that range. Even at 350whp you should be alright. But if you want more than just 300whp, id suggest going with a bigger turbo, maybe an 18g.
If you do go with the blouch 16g, might as well go with th xtr if you can afford the extra cost. As far as supporting mods, fuel pump, injectors, ebcs/mbc, at the least. Youd probably get told by your tuner to invest in an AP you'll need a temporary map to run the car prior to the tune. Depending on your budget you can weight in what else you think would be worth it.

Get a FP Green and call it a day. At low-ish boost you'll make 350, and super low you'll make 300 easy.

16G is too small. Definitely not worth spending that much upgrading for the results you'll get. It's better suited on cars that came with TD04s.

You shouldn't be looking at anything smaller than an 18G.

Thanks for the advice! I'll look into that.

I've been getting a lot of response to go with the FP green! Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the advice. Every-bodies response seem to be in the similar range.

From someone who has been there and done that with a vf39, big16g, and 20g.....

Stick with the stock turbo and upgrade suspension/tires. The time you spend at WOT is so little, and the monetary investment so large. However, if freeway pulls are your thing then FP Green is a good one, tried and tested results. If you can find one a Gt3076r stock location would be more fun but also more $.

As someone with a stock location GT3076, don't. My 20G was LOADS more fun and presented much more usable power.

The dom 1.5xtr has done wonders for me, amazing spool, great power band. My last setup made 380whp on stock internals (which lasted 60k or so). If you want higher top end they make a 10cm hot side option also. Whatever you choose is great, but I like blouch lol. I've always felt garrets seemed to lack compared to the xtr's

18 or 20g are going to be your best bet for the power numbers you want. of course supporting mods.

I dont know how easy it is for you to get tuned in HI so you may want to look into COBB and put together a package that closely matches one of the etunes on the site until you can get tuned as recommended above.

The XTR will spool slightly faster for you which will build more power down low which is where it is the most fun.

I also see you are trying to decide between the blouch and the FP. This is only here say but my understanding is that FP has been hit and miss on warranty/rebuilding support where as Blouch stands behind thier product 100% weather its a warranty issue, or just needing a rebuild they have great turn around time, but again this is just what I have heard/read which we all know how that goes on the interwebs.

Good luck have fun and keep us posted.

16g is a fun turbo for a DD blasting around with good throttle response when tuned properly of course,..
Bigger turbos post big numbers, but I found it too much for a DD and needing to worry about reliability. Do your research on what other people have and their experience and go from there on what you can afford and have access to so you dont waste your time and money.
