Tein Flex

How's the ride with it?

I'm looking for good ride quality daily drive and sometimes driving like an a$$h*le.

I just figure out my JIC FLT-2 are F9 and R10, and on the box they circle the R (racing) not the S (sport). So infek, I guess that's why they are stiff like hell.

I know the Tein Flex are F9 and R8 (for the evo tho).

Are they very stiff compare to your stock STi suspension?

Because they are only -2K for the rear comapre to my JIC and I'm scare to get a stiff suspension like the JIC I have currently

I'm thinking between Tein Flex + EDFC or HKS Hipermax RS or II

I know a lot of you are using Tein Flex, your opinion will be helpfull.

Thx

You could always order 7/5 springs for the JIC's. You could email them and see if the 9/10 valving could compensate for the lower 7/5 spring rate or if it would just wind up being over-dampened.

I have the 7/5 setup and it's pretty stiff (I'm even considering going back to stock)...so I can't imagine 9/10.

Either way, good luck!

That what I was tinking. I already sent an e-mail to JIC USA. The problem is even with softer spring JIC for daily drive will remain stiff, after what I heard. The gas chamber, double whatever thing is made for racing.

But not only that, JIC is charging me 90-100$ per sping. Aprrox ~ $500 w/o shipping

At that price I can sell my JIC and afford other coilover like the Tein. ( to be honest the EDFC look great with the 3 presets option. )

Anyway I don't want to change the springs and find out they still to stiff.

That's why I'm not sure about the Tein Flex because of the spring rate F9K and R8K.
They seem stiff.

Ok,

I had the Tein Flex with 5F/5R and EDFC. Just installed Zeal V6s with 10F/8R. Must be stiff as crap huh? Reality is with the Zeals set to 3 (stiffest setting is 6) the feel is about the same. The Zeals are stiffer, but less harsh. I hope that makes sense. Bear in mind I haven't run the Zeals at less than 3 yet. I expect that set to lower than 3 they'll be almost "plush", and when ramped up to 4 or 5, they'll be perfect for the track (very stiff). Spring rates alone don't tell the story. I went with the 10/8 vs. 8/6 setup for aggressive track days.

The tein Flex from yesterday night was way better than my "stiff stiff" JIC. But look like for the suby, the spring rate are ~ F6/R5.

Unfortunately Tein Flex are F9/R8 for evo

Right now I'm thinking about the Cusco Zero 2 F7/R5, but they are very expensive

John, Carlo and other Tein Flex owner...

can you check on you box what are the spring rate?

Here what I found Tein Flex for suby:

02+ WRX/STi: (Front: 8kg, 447 lbs; Rear: 7kg, 391 lbs)

EVO: (Front: 9kgf/mm, 503 lbs/in; Rear: 8kgf/mm, 407 lbs/in)

I had the Tein Flex with 5F/5R and EDFC. Just installed Zeal V6s with 10F/8R. Must be stiff as crap huh? Reality is with the Zeals set to 3 (stiffest setting is 6) the feel is about the same. I guess each coilover damper are very different because mine even with 0 they are harsh and stiff.

That's why I want to know exaclty what are the spring rate of all the people I talk with, normally Tein Flex for suby are F8/R7, unelss they changed the spring. They told me it was less (F6/R5 something like that) but want to make sure. If their Tein Flex are really F8/R7, I'll said are pretty confortable and it means the damper are "softer" than my JIC, since F8/R7 are pretty stiff spring.

Like you said spring rate doesn't tell the story.

But want to make sure and don't want to have a surprise if I buy them for the Evo.

Plz guys let me know.

I bought

my Zeals from a guy who sells all the good stuff, Cusco, JIC, Ohlins, Moton, Bilstien, HKS, etc. He recommended the Zeals over the others. I'd stay away from the JICs. Too many problems on the boards I've seen. You're much better off with the Cusco over JIC. If you want a ride to check out the Zeals, let me know. Home is 422-2595 and cell is 255-8591.
