No dude, my cams did not break. When my timing belt tensioner broke (which I'm sure is my fault) it bent one of the cams.
However, the cam is still in. Car still runs great. If you want I'll take you for a ride. I'm telling ya, I wish I had done this a whole lot sooner. The amount of improvement in throttle response and torque throughout the entire RPM band is awesome.
Worth every penny.
All I recommend is a new timing belt and new tensioner when you do the install. This is a recurring problem with Subaru tensioners.

One more thing. Make sure you talk to me before you do this install. There are a lot of things that I learned while doing this that will keep you from goofing anything up AND save you a lot of time.

thanks Dom: As soon as tax return comes I'll get me them cams, and torquechip. Headers? hmmmm... Im still going for the turbo- although this time I learned that the stock wrx turbo is too small
for the 2.5s. I just got a 2.2 block that needs a minor repair- I think i'm going to take a setback on my projected time for this project to work on this smaller displacement engine. Its comp. ratio is slightly lower than the 2.5's, thus making it more turbo
friendly. not to mention its slightly thicker cyl wall.
oh well... onother setback- but i think its worth it.
ps. twins is also an option for the 2.5 with 9:1 comp- i got the materials i just need the the freaking time to do it.

hey man, I would LOVE to help with any fabricating or engineering you may need to do with your setup. A TT setup would be sweet, moving the battery to the trunk would help with handling a lot (by counteracting the weight added under the hood) and give you more room for stuff in the engine compartment. In old muscle cars, they say moving the battery to the trunk is as effective as moving the engine and tranny back 10inches. I plan on doing it to my suby some day. Passenger side of the trunk.
I've drawn up a bunch of different plans for different turbo setups. Twin turbo kits (parallel and sequential) as well as super+turbo. I have a lot of good ideas and I calculated some important things. .... I just need to find that darn notebook... it's around here somewhere...

sub-sonic,
Hey man I need two of the "spring nut and bolt combo things" for the exhaust and two of the little bronze screws that hold the MAP sensor in the air intake. Got any of these around?

Dan, i dont have them bolts, i can order them for you if you want- they are not expensive,
Dominic, sorry none at this time- I'll let you know when I find one.
About the TT, the turbo can be placed right below each cyl heads
and it will not be lower than the oil pan. I tried placing one and it fits perfectly. One of the two had to be rotated so that the outlet
faces out. Jeff and I had done this but the waste gate has to be mounted on a seperate bracket. The oil drain or return lines are high enough to return at the oil pan. Ground clearance should not be a problem either as long as the car sits at the stock height.
I have a lot of ideas but i just dont have the time and lots of mula
to do it.
