Stripped Lug

Stripped a lug. Grabbed the kit from oreilly. ****s don't fit
So. Anybody have some of those sockets that grab stripped lugs? Not much room to work with.

Is it the lug nut that is stripped or the stud? If its the lugnut, Try to take a 6point or 12point socket that is slightly smaller then the lugnut and hammer it onto the lugnut, Then use a breaker bar to turn it loose. If its still stripped then you might need bigger and better tools which more then likely ends up in a damaged wheel.

I actually considered the hammer on method but decided to try to hold off on it and try the legit ways. It is a stripped lugnut

I think you mean you rounded it off. Drill the stud out. Won't damage your wheels that way.

When I first bought my car, I didnt realize there was 1 locking lug on each wheel and didnt get the key from the previous owner.

My friend took old sockets that were about the same size as the lug, and tack welded it on there. Then just used a ratchet and took them off haha

This. Screw ruining a wheel (unless you don't care), ruin a cheap socket instead. And then go buy some regular 6-point steel lug nuts, they'll take a beating like no other.

Sears has the new sockets and wrenches that help with rounded nuts...they also have the set as a "pass-through" socket/ratchet...very cool stuff and worth checking out.

Not sure if they have long sockets as it kind of defeats the purpose of the pass through design...so not sure it will work with the type of lugs you have...if they are extended aluminum ones, they may.

They are called:

Universal Max Axess
