so ive been reading around and ive heard that you can take a shortblock of an sti and put it on the sohc head of the 2.5i (the 06). everything apperently bolts right up, soo now im interested and was wondering where i can find a shortblock or will it really work. anyone have any ideas? cause eventually a turbo kit will come into play if that happens...low end tourqe + turbo= rallyx ftw!

yes it will "sorta" bolt up. you will need to weld the coolant line on the top on the block for this to fit right. you are also better off building the heads a little to bring up the flow rate. also the SOHC heads flow good! but the RPM range sucks!
Someone still has "my" motor in his car since he has his "nice toy" waiting on the side!! and he knows who he is also!

honestly for the price you are paying to get the block and then a turbo kit on top. you are better off looking for a EJ255 or EJ257 motor to drop in (granted you want the extra 1/2 liter displacement). unless of course you are just hell bent on boosting a SOHC, which is ok if your name is Shaggy.

You can get a new STi shortblock for around $2k shipped to Hawaii. Hopefully you are coming to the next RallyX, I should have mine all broken in by then.
