Don't the STi have a way to copy code by using your car?
I know the evo can program ablank key by doing a procedure.

Yes, 3 times total.

1. Put key in, off position.
2. Ground pin 1, just to the chasis.
3. Press hazard button 6 times, doors lock/unlock.
4. Press lock button once....pause....then press 2 more times.

Then your done.
You need the original key tho

only 2 people (besides you) suggested the dealer...and no one locally has said theyve gone there to cut their blank. i was hoping i could bring it somewhere cheap that people sucessfully brought theirs to. i was trying to avoid the dealer cause im assuming the cost will be alot. if its under $10, thats cool....but i was quoted over $100 to make another copy for my sti. the key itself was $60/$70 and to flash the code was another $20/$30 for each key (you have to flash all keys you own)....but thats for an 05 with immobolizer....so hopefully just to cut a key blank wont be over $10.

oops...dont quote me on the prices to copy immobolizer keys at subaru...that figure might be slighty off as i dont remember the exact price. i called 2 years ago when i picked up my sti...it is over $100 though, just not exact on the key cost and flashing costs...
