the newer STi's supposedly don't have the problem anymore. A lot of the first batch people had engine knock in warm weather areas with **** gas. After my 1k break in I started driving harder rpm and had knock at 4k and high load. I got the reflash and now it is all good. There was no noticeable power loss although I suspect that there would be a loss on tne dyno.
I'd expect a lot of you guys in HI to have the knock because you were the first state to get the STi's. But I haven't heard many people complaining about it. Subaru is reflashing on an 'as needed' basis.

Ed,
Any additional info? I called today and was told it could take most of the day and may require additional parts from the mainlaind. (Huh?) I didn't talk to Braun, but this is what was relayed to me.
Should we schedule an appointment?
How long will it take?
Is there problems with the process that may require a new ECU?
BTW, I'm also missing the dust covers on at least one (maybe two) of my injectors so I'll probably stop by to have that logged as a warranty issue.
Thanks!

Mine took 3 days to do back in July. But that was when they needed to fly the ECU back to NJ to have the work done.
What is this talk about the dust cover on the injector? Is this that gray rubber round thing on the top of the injector? Can you take a picture of it cause I think all of mine are in place.

Well, the Hawaii dealers are suppose to have reflash capability locally so the ECU doesn't have to be shipped back, but we are still trying to get all the details.
Yea, it's the gray dust cover on the injectors. silver satin was missing 2 and I'm missing at least one. I haven't been able to eyeball the passenger front one yet, so that could be missing as well.
