State requiring sound Db check
Well, after watching the news last night, there is a proposal to install sound measuring meters on all cars receiving safety checks. The pros were that it would reduce noise pollution. Cons was that it is expensive machinery that would be passed on to the taxpayers. I for one am upset by this recent surge to curb car enthusiasts by the legislature. 1st the closing of HRP next year, and now this. If the cops would pass their cars through, i think many of their cars' exhaust systems would be deemed "too loud" or unacceptable by these standards. O.K. I'm done ranting for now.... opinions on this topic and any more information on this or any of the states future plans on limiting or freedoms are free to post here.........

My only gripe is... BIKES NEED TO BE INCLUDED... loud *** motorcycles **** me off, they're way noisier than most of our cars.

Well I for one am for this because of the fact that I get woken up all the time by fools running near my home revving their engines and acting dumb. At least if they had to be quiet...I wouldn't know that they were acting dumb
Oh and yes...all motor vehicles should be included...choppers especially

hondas with "universal" mufflers only. hot-rods choppers(hard to see them...noise helps us locate them) and subarus should be excluded. oh, and the HPD povs that are used for patrol should be exempt!<--we need to hear them before they creep up on us all stealth and all.
i've had lots of compliments from "older" people stating our exaust is "different" and nice.... not like those POBIAC mufflers (pissed off bumblebees in a can)

This appears to be the measure in question: http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/sessio...lls/hb857_.htm
It passed the House yesterday and here are the voting results: 9 Ayes: Representative(s) Luke, B. Oshiro, Caldwell, Herkes, Morita, Sonson, Souki, Marumoto, Thielen; Ayes with reservations: none; 0 Noes: none; and 1 Excused: Representative(s) Kanoho.
Notice there were no "no" votes.
It should be making its way to the Senate shortly.
In addition...
This one could be costly if it passes (the fine was initially $375 for the second violation and $500 for the third...but the HD1 (below) lowered it):

The above measure passed the House Judiciary committee yesterday and these were the voting results: 9 Ayes: Representative(s) Luke, B. Oshiro, Caldwell, Herkes, Morita, Sonson, Souki, Marumoto, Thielen; Ayes with reservations: none; 0 Noes: none; and 1 Excused: Representative(s) Kanoho.
There were no "no" votes on this one as well.
We'll have to wait and see what the Senate does...

Oh god... I'm glad to leave pretty soon! JK.
Damn why all the stupid law.
How about the SUV with 25" rims and 100 feets of the ground? Because of us can't see through.
Don't they have something else to do?
