1. Thanks everyone for the input
2. I'm obviously paranoid since I'm the hawaii i-club spaz
3. I think anyone would be concerned if there was a sticky on NASIOC with 08-09 engine problems on stock cars!
4. My car, my choice BUT many other people with opinions, knowledge, and information = help me make a better decision.
5. I read and search through many other forums. I ask some questions here if I prefer the local response whether it is which catback sounds better to people here in Hawaii, or if stage 2 is something to consider since Hawaii doesn't require passing emissions testings, etc.

just remember with just a cat back 09 wrx's run dangerously lean so you'll need an accessport or an open source tune. I just got mine tuned today with a turbo back(tsudo downpipe and invidia n1) a boost controller and a fuel pump and put down 285whp and 315 torque and I absolutely love it! but dont go stage two to shut ppl up. the reason ppl modify cars is to make it what YOU want not others. good luck on your decision though!

and sorry for misinformation earlier. i should have just said you can unmarry the AP and hope for the best. **** it though, if you wanna mod, then mod. if you're super concerned about warranty, just wait till it runs out.
personally, i don't think a CBE will mess anything up. neither will a stage 1 cobb tune. but that's just my outlook on it.

Dude.Seriously? Dude.
I don't know that you did your research, but as far as 08-09's w/ engine problems, check your VIN#. I did that on my legacy and also the new forrester. If your car was out of that manufacturing period, your golden.
Now onto modding. If you seriously are worrying about it as much as it appears, then forget it. SRSLY, just go buy some other car. Modding is about as expensive as hobbies get, and shaggy knows all the guys who "Race" their cars, and I also believe that none of them would bring in their car under a warranty claim. You do have to pay to play. $hit costs a bunch to fix, but that's racing (or modding in your case).
If you are soo worried about a DP and CBE, i honestly don't know what to tell you.
We obviously don't think alike, and honestly I think we never will.
Go out and buy yourself a fast OEM car, and you can have the dealer service it without conscience. The rest of us love our subies.

LOL yea like everyone said, if you that scared than modding isn't for you. Plus you just learned how to drive your car, do you think you're ready to drive a faster version?

Ugh
Can we please just let this thread die already?

I love my car and I want to mod it. But subaru obviously isn't perfect and the 08-09 WRX's are popping up with engine failures (some people reporting at 14K miles) with rod knocks and spun bearing problems. Am I in the clear, probably? Has my car had a manufacturing defect? Yeah, took Servco about a week to figure out that my car's rear frame area was welded improperly. Call me a ***** if you like but if SOA can let something like that slip through and get sold to a customer, well then maybe you might just understand my concern about the car's build quality whether it's my unique welding issue or the numerous engine failures.
If any admin is reading this, please lock or delete. I got the info I needed and then some, thanks.
