well you have to understand that police officers that frequent the area that you got caught is known to have people lipping off all the time to them. also police officers that are always on speed patrol have encountered so many problematic people and are always on the defensive. they have a stereotype about people that drive "performance" cars. for the record he doesn't have to show you the gun but if he does it's a bonus and you'll know right off if he gave you more than what you earned
technically if he was in the 45 zone when he got your speed then it should be noted as 45 MPH zone. if he was in the 50 MPH zone then it should read that. If i'm not mistaken and my memory serves me correctly the 50 MPH zone does NOT begin until after the posted sign. so technically you were probably in the 45 MPH zone and not the 50 as you though.

It might never hit at all and it might hit you really hard. From my experience its hard to tell the effect. Hell, i had a ticket from WWWAAAAYYY back that never hit my insurance. Who knows.

just hope for the best. what you could do is just call your insurance company and inquire. say... ummm... I have some questions regarding my insurance coverage... Since I'm paying x amount of dollars every 6 months if I were to get a moving violation for speeding would It affect my insurance? If so how? Is this even if it's my first offense?

I also got a speeding ticket like 2 weeks ago. I was going 74 in a 55 zone. And just recently it has affected our insurance big time. And is creating a whole bunch of problems in the family.

Fight it.
You can always fight it, and always should. even if you know you were speeding, fight it. what have you got to lose by fighting it? Plus in hawaii you can contest it by mail, then appeal and fight it in court. I know for me its not the ticket cost as much as it is the insurance fees. Sucks he got pissy about the radar gun question.
I'm a bit supprised the bike cop was using radar, i know i have gotten readings on the radar detector from squad cars here in Hawaii but... never bikes. wierd.

the focker tried to go around my whole car.. measuring sh*t.. checking if license plate was 12 inches (busted out ruler).. all that work trying to find something else to bust me for.. but I was legit. (besides the plate cover)
that's recon for ya =)

Fight it Pete. If he's ambigusous on where he tagged you then you should have a case to argue. This is America, doing the "crime" doesn't necessarily have to do the "time." Look at OJ... $172 is least of your worries. Insurance takes a BIG hit for each moving violation. My insurance is about $900 six month... it used to be $1200 w/ one ticket and a "totalled" Previa.
Fight the power.

Well, look for discrepency on the ticket. If not, then you have to suck it up. But I would wait and check on you ticket status online. Sometimes officers don't even turn in their ticket. You win by default.
