Question something wrong with boost?????

I have an 02 wrx with the only mod is a CAI

It runs fine but doesnt boost. It spools but just sputters or stutters when it hits the 4500 rpm mark thats when the boost tries to kick in but just doesnt. I let off gas and resume regular driving but just doesnt have boost.

Had a couple people look at it and drove with me but they havent figured it out I kinda want some opinions as to maybe something I can or my friend can do that will fix this problem thanks

You probably have a leak in your intercooler loop somewhere. My car was doing the same thing and I found out it was because the y-pipe had popped off the TMIC. Follow your piping around the intercooler checking all the connections, clamps, etc. If you don't find anything obvious you might have a cracked weld point or something a little more difficult.

you should not have a cai if your car does not have a tune. return to stock airbox reset that ecu and see how it goes!

I would start with a boost leak test and go from there. but def stop trying to boost the car i.e. wide open throttle runs.

I have a stock air box you can borrow if you honestly wanna think that a CAI is going to hurt you.
I blame boost leak as well.

oh no I understand about no boosting trust me dont need any other headaches lol I only boost when I think i done something to fix it.... but ill have a better understanding on whats the problemo tomorrow have a mech coming over to take a peek that has over 10 years messing with nothing but subys...

I do not think its the cai to be honest but ill run that by him because if you dont need a tune when you change tmic why would ya need a tune for a cai?

so tomorrow ill post when done what it has been narrowed down to

Turbo cars are very sensitive to air adjustments.
The intake isn't doing anything for your car except messing up your A/F ratios and letting you hear the turbo.
When i bought my car it had the SPT intake on it and it ran like crap at high RPM's. put a stock air-box back on and ran so much better.
not saying your intake is causing the problem you are describing just trying to answer you ? about the intake.

ever care to think your turbo is shot esp if it was boosting before and you had the CAI on since you bought it?
