Solo II *** Update ***
This just in from Curtis just now:
Jon
This just sucks since they are going to be hosting drift events at the stadium. Solo II is a lot more safe and more predictable than drifting since you're learning to control your car in a controlled place.
Well I know everyone has been waiting for word of our future at Aloha Stadium. After meeting with the Stadium personnel and not being able to satisfactorily address their perceived safety issues of our event, we got the SCCA National Safety Committee Chairperson involved to address the Stadium’s concerns. The chairperson addressed each concern basically reiterating what I stated in my meeting with the Stadium. The Stadium personnel are still not comfortable with how we (SCCA) operate a Solo event.
So as with the original decision to let us have a 3 month trial period, we will again have to present our case to the Board of Directors (BOD) of the Aloha Stadium for continued use of the Lower Halawa Parking Lot for Solo AND we will also have to address the safety issues brought on by the Stadium personnel. It is my opinion, SCCA National’s opinion AND backed up by the test of time that our event procedures are safe and adequate.
That being said we will not be having a November event, but you are invited to attend the BOD meeting on November 30th at 10:00 AM to witness and possibly add positive comment to our cause. The meeting is held in the Stadium offices behind the ticket office. If you plan to attend, be prepared to stay as long as 2:00 PM.
Keeping up the fight,
