I bought my car before Pfleuger took over so bang for the buck was what I got when I got my STi. I think both cars are great, but the STi offered more than the EVO at a fair price. The lone Mitsubishi dealership was selling the car waaay above the MSRP. I happily put my name on a waiting list and purchased my car at MSRP...all without a test drive. I was that confident that I would love the car, after three years of ownership, the grin has not diminished one bit. I LOVE MY STi!!

The Mitsu EVO is over priced and over hyped.
Best mitsu for the buck is $400 Mitsubishi Starion MK4.

I actually wanted the Evo but the f*ckin' dealership here was charging a crazy markup and were being d*cks to deal with. After getting the WRX I was happy I did, the boxer rumble the great folks in I-club, insurance costs are much less etc...

I sold my WRX over a year ago and just last month was in the market for a new car. The STi, Evo and RX-8 were at the top of my list (would have considered a S2000 and 350z but I need a back seat for the baby). Anyway I got a great deal on the RX-8 and though it's much slower than the others, it handles better than anything I've driven.

The Subaru is better to live with...interior is nicer, quality is higher etc.

The Evo may offer a bit more performance out of the box but the STi is easily modified to beat it.

Now if it is a question of WRX vs. Evo...I'd say that cost and insurance was one factor...also the WRX was available before the Evo.

That's actually a good reason.

For me it's:
1) Boxer rumble first and foremost
2) Higher quality
3) Way safer
4) Less ricers have it
5) More unique (Flat 4 motor, etc.)
6) No insane dealer markup
7) Better daily driver
8) Did I say boxer rumble?

Car Info: STi (cornering, accelerating and braking hard).
I got my STi in very good condition for cheap. Most of the Evos I've seen on Maui were on the lifts at the dealership at least once for something that broke.

I have the perfect two car punch. I drive the STi when I want to go fast. I drive the Miata when I want to drive the twisties.

I have an evo 9 mr, had it for about a yr now. So far no problems and it runs great. The evo is easier to mod than an sti, but I'm keeping my stock. Modding my car is at the bottom of my list. The interior is simple which I perfer, it looks better than evo 8 interior. My insurance went up $14(I had a wrx before), that's no big deal. Plus I got it for $34k out the door, that's a good deal on an evo 9 mr. I bought the car new

I would've bought an Evo if the markup wasn't so damn high. I got my STi at a price that I couldn't resist. Have no regrets, but I would jump on an Evo if the price was right.

I also remembered reading in a car magazine a while back saying that when the evo first came out, they had some sort of tranny problem..How this was determined was by owners bringing in their evo's to the dealership and found out a tranny defect due to racing..Thats all I remember!!

i love the look of both cars, but i hate interior of the evo. the only experience i had with an evo was where this young salesman at the dealership that could hardly drive standard rippin it at over 80mph by the staduim in broad daylight at only 9miles on the odo. haha... sooo yea i cant compare em, i know nothing about evos besides the fact that their salesman here seem to believe in a hard break in
