so i get a call from the lotus dealership...
and they give me an "update" on the elise...they say their cars will be here in about 3 weeks, and test drives available as soon as the techs can go over the cars...
now i was kinda hesitant to put down a deposit when i went there a few weeks ago, as they wanted a 5k deposit, which was nonrefundable as soon as the build order was executed...the price they were asking was 5k OVER msrp...which is a HUGE turnoff for me...one of my principles is not to pay over msrp, for any car...i would be willing to pay 1k over though, as that's what it'd cost me to get the car shipped from the mainland...
back to the story...the salesperson says, "oh, by the way, the asking price has now increased to $7500 over msrp, but since we have a prior interest in the car, i can still grant you your 5k over msrp price. so if you put your deposit down now, look how much money i saved you."
WTF?!? money you SAVED me??? where??? i think i'm still getting overcharged by 5g's...
so i say, well, i'm not too sure...i'd have to drive one, and i'm still thinking of the new vette...
i was thinking that 5g's over was a little low for the JN dealership...usually their markup is much higher...when i was looking at C5 Z06s, they were asking 8k over...
anywhoo, i went to see my dealer at servco, and he said msrp for the new vette, and there's some deposits already...still unable to leave a deposit on a C6 Z06, but they have deposits for the "base" C6's...
dammit i hate greedy bastages...if they were selling them at msrp, i'd have put a deposit down a long time ago...oh well...

OH why can't I be you? Dude, you need to adopt me. You wouldn't mind having a 34 yr old father as your son, would you?
Not only can't I be like you, I can't even drive my own car.

My Lotus Elise deal is at MSRP and is being held by a $500 refundable deposit. I'm around #70 at a "large volume" Lotus dealer in the Washington, DC area and hope to have my car by Spring 2005. Seems like you're getting screwed because of your location in Hawaii.
I'll never pay more than MSRP for any car!!

I would love to test-drive that thing, but there's no way I'd pay more than 1K over MSRP. If you do decide on the Lotus, make sure you keep your current car. They're not the most reliable things in the world.
Have you asked about the C5 Z06 recently? They should be more open to deal now. If not JN, I'm sure a dealer on the mainland would be willing to work something out.
Have fun on the car hunt!

adoption would be cool, as i'd get back more from taxes...HAHAHAHAHA...and i'll make you guys do house chores so i wouldnt need to do it...
as for looking at the C5 Z06's, i pretty much gave up on them when i saw the initial C6 pics...
oh, and get this...my mom was looking for a new car, so we looked at the toyota highlanderfor her-i tried to get her into a ML500, X3/X5, or a RX330, but she wanted something cheaper...we test drove a highlander last week, and a scion xB today...she really liked the xB, so she bought one today...no silver ones prepped on the lot today, so they said she'll get her car in a week...
pretty funny to think she liked the xB...and how that car is designed to target the younger buyers... (my momma is 58)...

hey J, ... I'm moving to the mainland in a week (San Diego), so if you need someone on the mainland to deliver some paperwork, or take a car to the port, I'll be glad to help. That is Total BS that they feel that they can get away with such F*cked up pricing!!! The Worst thing is that dumb *** f*cks will pay it!!

big D- i like the xa better in person...it doesnt look too nice in the pictures...and 19s must look nuts on it...i've only seen the 18s on it and that made the car look even smaller...
nolimit- thanx bro...you'll be my hookup if i ever have to ship a car...and damn, you're leaving already? i didnt even have time to get a modchip for my xbox and ps2...damn it!!!
i'm now leaning more towards the C6 Z06, because if JN is gonna gouge the price like that on the sale, i cant imagine how the service dept is gonna be like...at least i know servco cares about customer service, as they give you the evaluation call a few days after service...we'll see...
