I am trying to see how quick I can run w/out any kind of engine management. When I first tried dragging the FXT, I thought I could only get 14.7s.....then I got a 14.4........then I got a 14.3........then a 14.2 and 14.1 in the same night. Last few times I went, I was doing consistent 14.0s. This is all with a stock motor. I can give some credit to the WRX suspension in lowering the times. Seeing that I am gradually seeing better times, I believe that I can get into the 13s with out tinkering w/the motor.

It's all in the wrist.

Then, if I run a few months straight with the same best time, I guess I'll step up and get mad power with a BOV!

Ha ha, but in all seriousness, I believe that the Forester needs MAJOR work with its suspension if it is going to have that much power. I tend to invest in suspension mods (ie: coilovers, sway bars/endlinks, strut bars, etc. and probably brakes) before power mods. Besides, I think being able to hit 13s and still get 300+ miles/tank isn't half bad.

I've been told if I had a better 60' time I could knock maybe a 1/2 second off my time Not sure if that's true or not. I just wish I had more runs before it started raining. It was my first time and I didn't have time to get the hang of it. They will be open on the 20th and if I have time I'll give it another try and launch at a higher RPM. I think the best part of the day was the change in the way people looked at the Forester after the first run, it was priceless

I have a fair amount of suspension work but I did manage to get a full set of take-off JDM Forester STi springs, tophats and (inverted) struts. Fully assembled ready to drop in. Still in transit but I can't wait. Not only is the XT quick and practical. you can take it to the auto-x and the drags. Weee

Hey Peaty, have you ever dragged your XT before the suspension mods? I'm not sure, but I knocked off an average of .2 seconds from my e.t..

I agree with you on the reactions from other people when they see a Forester run. I hear that our announcer in the tower is quite fond of the Forester.

As far as launching the XT, I bounce the needle between ~5,000-5,500 rpm and then slip the clutch. I average low 1.8 60's and got a 1.7 once (unfortunately, i mis-shifted 3-4th costing me a win against a Mach 1). No need to worry about our beefy tranny busting, considering I was still using our awesome Yokohama Geolandars .

Do you autox your XT? How does it do against similar competition? I was a spectator at my first autoX this past Sunday and it looked pretty damned fun. I had an '05 WRX suspension which improved handling greatly. I figure sways and better tires would improve it even more.

^^^Muahahahah Geolanders rox your ***! LOL

Hey Josh I think your improvments had more to do with the amount of seat time you had in your car. Try doing it friday night with stock everything, saturday with the WRX suspension. See if there really is a difference!
