A Sincere Thank You
Since I first got on I-Club out here around a year ago, I've had a great experience meeting a lot of really great people. However, I never expected anything like this.
I'm stationed on a submarine in Pearl Harbor, and was out to sea from last Monday to this past Tuesday. While I was out, the wife was driving the car, and it just died in a Jack in the Box drive through. When she tried to start the car she got NOTHING. No turning over, just lights. She knows nothing about cars, and didn't have a clue on how to fix it. So.... she gets my cell phone out, and goes down the list of the few HIIC members I have in my phone book. Specifically, Justin, Mario, and Jeff. She knows Mario & Jeff, and knew Justin was a good friend of Mario's, so she was comfortable with all of them.
Justin showed up at the Jack in the box, with toolbox in hand. After having her try to turn the car over & other basic stuff, he jacked the car up and proceeded to take the engine bay apart right there in the parking lot. I don't know exactly all that was done, but I do know that the spark plugs were pulled to see if it was flooded out; not an easy task in my opinion. ESPECIALLY in decent clothes in a parking lot in the middle of the afternoon.
Mario showed up a little while later to help out, and Justin had the starter out ready to get checked out. My wife rode with Mario down to Checker's, had the starter checked out, and it was all good. SO...back they go to the parking lot, when Justin had to leave. Mario put the starter back in, and gave the wife a push-start to get the car running. After he followed her home, he made arrangements to try again the next day.
The next day, Jeff came out & didn't come up with any answers either. He & Mario checked everything electrical that they could, finding nothing at fault. I'm back home now, starting the troubleshooting again from this point.
I've already called Justin, but thought it appropriate to post this up here. The way you guys just dropped whatever you were doing to help a fellow member that needed a hand was one of the most unselfish things I've ever seen. I only hope that I can be available if any of you need anything at all in the future.
Thanks again!!
Cliff notes: I was out to sea for a week, wife drove the car. It broke down. HIIC members came to the rescue, no questions asked.

I'm probably not going to be able to check the car out until Sunday morning. I'm pretty sure it has to be either the starter solenoid or clutch switch. Do you have any insight where the solenoid is located? I'm getting ready to look that stuff up in a little bit.
You have PM as well.

it doesnt look to hard to pull an engine i think its just more time consuming more than anything. I still dont believe that we did a clutch swap in about 8 hrs which is crazy enough already. But i think you are more than capable of this job Pat just dont second guess your knowledge thats when problems tend to happen.
