Silly SCAMMERS. $2,250 fake check EVERYONE PLZ BE AWARE!
funny story about 2 weeks ago i got a text from a mainland number (area code 404) saying his name was 'Larry Cole' and he wanted to purchase my sti downpipe & my g35 stock suspension, which totaled up to 220 bucks. at first i thought this was weird hes buying parts for two DIFFERENT cars. but i thought ahh moneh moneh mooooonehhhhh!!
says to me he'll offer me my asking price plus additional 30 bucks(totaling 250 - wow) if i held it for him. so i said i will, and he said he'd be sending me a check by mail and says that his 'shipping agent' will pick up my parts from me when i receive the check. hah! one week passes i get no check, i tell the guy if i receive nothing in one more day i repost my ads, no reply till 4 days later and says check has been sent out by mail and ill get it ASAP. so i tell him hes full of BS and hes a waste of time blah say blah. ANOTHER phone number texts me saying that the check is sent out and gives me a tracking #. and day after day for 3 days keeps texting me asking if i received the check. and i constantly tell him no. and today i receive a check in the mail for 2,250 bucks. So i laugh, and from then on i knew this has got to be fake but thought that the check looked so legit, and thought wow extra spending cash, bigger turbo baby! buuuuuuut then thought again said this is too good to be true, so i did my research, the company name on the check turns out to be some Hospitality Industry in miami. And if you notice the signature im pretty sure that aint no 'Larry Cole'
now the 'agent' supposedly texted me asking if i got the check and i tell him yes and he says 'well Larry sent the wrong amount and gave you an extra 2000 and wants you to send the extra 2000 with me and the parts back to him.' so i laugh again and never texted him back.
now at first i wanted to tell the guy yeah i have the 2000 and meet up with him and kick his f*kn *** and shove the damn check down his throat and bat him with my downpipe. but ahhh i figured i just let it go and post this crap on here to let everyone know that scammers are FOREAL and frame the fake check and mount it on my wall.
ive never ran into a situation like this before and never thought i would EVER run into a situation like this. i wouldnt think people are dumb enough to do this stuff. but well i guess thats the world we live in now huh?
so everyone pls be aware of these con artists when buying or selling things on the internet or any ads.

Btw this turns out to be one of the biggest scams that can cost you THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of dollars and not to mention being tagged for Fraud! and sued by the company that has been a victim as well and make you look like the con artist!

Same thing happened to me selling a Breitling by Bently replica on CL when I lived in Stockton... LOL, I too got an ungodly check, like over 3.5k. I was dealing with the guy through email for like a week as well and he finally called me after the check arrived about 10 days after we first started chatting via email. talked to me about arranging for his pick up service to come get the parts, he was going to Africa and needs the parts ASAP. Also claimed that the check was over, to cash it, take everything but 2700 which I would send back to him back. "lemme get this straight..... your delivery guy is on his way as we speak and I dont have cash in hand? you can kiss my fu9king @ss you scamming fu9k!" ***click*** the delivery guy never showed up....

You should report this to the FBI, and local authorities its a federal offense. Don't do anything with the check, give it to authorities. I would text the guy back and tell him you will meet up with his "agent" and just have the cops waiting for him.
