Shipping my car experience
So back in August I shipped my WRX and finally made it back to Dallas to pick up my car. All seemed ok, till I saw the bill/inspection sheet. The car had 14 more miles on it, than when I shipped it. I knew this was odd, but I kept my hopes high.
I heard them pull my car around and I heard the worst noise I have heard in a long time. Like ALOT of clunking noises.
So as I drove off, the car wouldn't go in 2nd gear. Hmmm, let me rephrase, it would "go" in 2nd but nothing would happen. We took it over to Cobb Tuning hear in Dallas, and the diagnosis was a blown 2nd gear.
So this proved someone beat the life out of my car while being shipped. Luckily insurance is covering an entire tranny rebuild.
Well, about an hour ago, Cobb just cracked the case open, I took pics...enjoy:
Here's a pic of teeth chillin in the casing
2nd gear drive...smoth
2 pics of 2nd gear driven...even smoother
Other than that...everything is good.

Here's the kicker, the shipping company is not held for any "mechanical failures" during shipping
So when I called and told them the shop said it was due to abuse, they were speechless and just fell back onto the clause. Completely ridiculous.
Geico was having issues covering it, but I claimed it under vandalism and they waived my deductible. So everthing worked out....but I probably lucked out.

No, sorry. The shipping company can't get out of this one. The teeth broke because some **** took your car and dragged it on the docks or something retarded. Find the **** that did it and sue him, and his company. There isn't a clause in the whole world that will save them from one of their employees taking joy rides in YOUR vehicle that YOU entrusted to them. It wasn't a pre-existing mechanical issue, so yes, you can sue them.

HOLY ****, sorry to hear about your WRX bro. Glad to hear your insurance company is gonna cover it 100%, and Cobb Tuning is gonna fix it, but it's still the fact of the matter. Some punk working at the dock drove the living crap out your car, and that shouldnt be acceptable. Unfortunately, over the last few years, I've heard ALOT of stories about the joy rides going on in there, sound system that end up missing, and damage done to vehicles by inexperienced drivers...What I find really messed up is that Shipping Company Policys protect its employees from the liability of there mistakes or acts, more than protecting its paying customers personal property and rights....

Dude, that sucks Josh! When I shipped my mine, all that happened was that it got scraped up on one quarter panel and a wheel got scuffed -- they covered both because a typhoon hit the ship while en route to CA.
What company did you go with? I went with Horizon, as per Blake's recommendation (and they were fairly cool).

IMO you are very lucky insurance is going to cover everything and also you have COBB to rebuild everything.
If I had that **** happen when shipping in Tahiti. There is NO ONE who will be able to rebuild that here. So gonna have to ship to USA and get it back.
Months of wait, lot on shipping cost and tax.
Very glad for you everything worked out.
