Seeing as how we have such a strong community...

Maybe we should buy this thing as a "reserve" just in case we lose one of our own?

I'd rather find a nice 5MT for cheap just to do a 2WD conversion!

I have a shortblock at my house that anyone is welcome to have, it needs new pistons.

Just curious.

Question for y'all. How hard would it be to take the block Mike has and make the walls sturdier? ...like making it closed deck or something. Impossible or just too difficult or expensive?

Not hard at all, it's just money.

You could always bore it out a little and then sleeve it.

Ahhh... Sleeving the motor would make the cylinders more rigid in the block not requiring a closed deck, right? I see where you're going. I thought you meant there were sleeves that would "close the deck" on the EJ20!

Doh.

P.S. Isn't it amazing at how little the STi block (JDM 2.0l) is actually "closed"? I thought it would be a considerable amount of metal centering those holes in the block - but I guess that wasn't necessary at the 280bhp level.
