MSD said it couldn't be done.
https://www.i-club.com/forums/showth...threadid=42672
I Bought an MSD DIS-2 and at first I couldn't get it to work.
SO I called MSD. THey said that it isn't compatible.
THis is why:
Our Coils have four wires:
Ground
12V+
Coil control signals x2
These control signals are a 1V waveform. They are not the grounded pulse the MSD is looking for.
Our coils have the ignitor built into them. The ignitor provides the grounded pulse required to fire a coil.
This is how I got an MSD DIS 2 to work for my car:
Hacksaw and dremel. I cut apart the stock coil in order to pull the ignitors out of the coil. This was slow and messy. It could be easily screwed up, but luckily I did it right the first time.
Each ignitor has three terminals:
Coil negative,
Ground
Control signal
I soldered new wires onto these terminals. Ground was wired to ground. Control signal goes to the wiring harness signal from the ECU, Coil Negative to the MSD control input.
THen I had to buy an aftermarket coil. I bought the MSD 8229. IT is a four post two coil pack for Neons and Eclipses. Attached the coil to the MSD and fired it up.
Works good so far... I haven't left the driveway. Here are some pics.

I was reading an old issue of SCC.
One of the articles where Shiv had turbo'd the 2.5.
He was saying how they benefited greatly from better plugs...
that tells me that there is room for improvement in the spark category. SO I did it. 50,000 Volts of spark baby.

I had purchased the MSD without knowing it wouldn't work. It doesn't say anywhere on it or on their site that it doesn't work for my car.
after installing it and finding out it didn't work, Ron's wouldn't let me return it. So I was pretty much stuff with it.
Also, I've never heard of HKS twin power.
