No but make sure you use something low low low abrasive.
Try something with an orbital buffer. Basically you gotta bring down the clear coat to the level of the scratches...doesn't make a lot of sense but read this... http://www.speedoptions.com/articles...index.php?pg=1

actually it does, you wet sand it down with 1500-2000 grit then polish with rubbing compund or a polish. i personally use 3M rubbing compund from walmart, like 6+ bux per bottle, and pneumatic buffer. it can also be buffed by hand, it will give yor arm a good work out. the risky part is oversanding and burning paint. pretty easy but risky... you could also just use a polish or rubbing compound with no sanding. depending on how deep the scratch is i would leave it alone. the deeper the more risk of oversanding.

sorry pics may be too big.....
so i decided to test out the sand and buff method i had on my car for the first time. came out pretty good. i also tried to fix the paint chipping thanks to schuman.
heres my scratch...
wet sand 2000 grit
scratch not gone yet, needs more sanding...
bumper chipping sanded, 2000 grit
another shot of the bumper
scratches are gone, but theres a haze due to the 2000 grit scratches. now it needs to be polished
another shot
another shot
the rubbing compound..... and yes my lip is badly scratched, its another project saved for later...
you gotta rub alot but dont push too hard...(please dont tease me about that line...)
yay!! much better!
wha? what happend to the scratch?????
now we gotta protect the surface by waxing it
wax on, wax off.....
Ahh all done, that took me like 5 minutes. it took me like 40 minutes to post all of this haha
remember if you try this dont blame me if anything goes wrong, oem paint is very thin. there is a big risk ot cutting down your clear coat too much. think hard if its worth it or not, is the scratch too deep or not, blah blah....
