I'm posting this in other forums, but I thought I would start here. This is an email I got last night from Curtis Lee RE: my questions for classification of the STi. This is it: (you guys ready for this? Some people might not be happy...others will)

SM is Street Modified
Yes, you can over classify your car, but you can't under classify

If I read this right, SS brake lines will move me into ESP? My brake lines come in tomorrow, but I may hold off on the install until next season if that's the case.
STOCK CATEGORY
BRAKES
A. The make and material of braking linings may be changed
B. Substitution of clutch and brake hydraulic lines with solid metal or braided metal is allowed on all cars manufactured before model year 1992.
C. Alternate brake bleeder fittings such as "Speedbleeders" are permitted. They may server no other purpose.

just drove dan's STI today
we put in a turbo timer at my house and he said wanna drive it
so we went up alewa heights by my house
this is a totally different car and I knew it was better but not that much better
the close ratio steering lets you keep both hands on the wheel
the vvt and extra .5L make this thing torque under 2000 rpm
(mine falls on it's face below 2900 rpm, push full throttle and the car stops)
nice programmable shift light w/ audible warning
great 6 speed shifter feel and the center diff helps to control over powered front wheel push
the suspension beats my $1800 JIC coil overs and it doesn't change the rear view mirror setting or make your loose teeth fall out
I now believe that almost anyone could beat me with a stock STI with r compound tires (dan's had the street tires which are really good for 140 treadwear tires)
gotta sell my car and try and make more money to buy an STI
either that or put $12000 into my 91 240
I wonder if dan wants to run my tires on his car?
then I can run it to make sure that they're working properly
guaranteed to beat my old times!
