SCCA Autocross
If I should be lucky enough to be one of the twenty who get to compete this Sunday, what class should I run in? My car is a stock STi with an RSR cat-back exhaust. I was prepared to run in A-Stock, but have just found out that my Cusco front strut bar puts me into Street Touring Ultra. I kinda find it hard to believe that the front strut bar put my stock STi into a class that other than the 245 max tire width and 140 minimum tread wear, allows full-suspension mods like aftermarket swaybars, bushings, and also even allows re-tuned ECUs. I figured I am definitely out-gunned in this class, and I am also at a somewhat disadvantage in the stock class too, should I remove the strut-bar. I am currently running less than grippy RE750s and not the more stickier stock RE070s. MY question to you autocross veterans is what class should I compete in, A-Stock, Street Touring Ultra, or Street Modified? Where are most of STis at. I await your advice.

any class would be good. i don't think you can compete in A-stock since your cat back removes 2 cats. i'm in STU and would like to see other in the class also. btw, my car is pretty stock except for sway bars & tbe. also, i drove a friend's car with the re750's and they aren't that bad. they're actually better than my f-1's.

I actually think the A Stock cars are faster than the STU cars simply because they are on R Compounds and you face cars such as the S2000 and Porsches. I actually think you're more outgunned in A Stock than STU.
IMO run in STU and plan on running there once the other mods go on your car. Run in the class you will ultimately end up in rather than keep going up in classes depending on the parts on your car.
I actually ran a stock car except for rear sway bar and down pipe in Street Mod because I knew I would end up there once all the mods were on my car.
Actually STU will probably have more AWD type cars than A Stock.

Run in SM!
Wait a minute aren't the STis getting pushed out of SM?
Anyways, SM was where there was a lot of competition last year.
What's the deal with only 20 people getting to run? Don't they normally have like almost 100 cars on normal days? If they're trying to impress the new venue then I doubt any novices or non-competitors will be allowed for the first event. It sounds like they'll only let the hardcore people come to this first one...which is a good idea if they need to get the venue to like them.

I just finished putting together my "STS" magnet sheets. I'll be in the same heat as you so we can compare notes. BTW I'll be in a VW not my Suby.
