Safety Check
Does anyone know the rerequisites of how someone would be passed on their vehicle safety check?
i was told they check the height between the bottom of your plate to the ground. does anyone know the exact height? and would someone with just wheels and a drop of 1.8" be alright with safety check?

license plate height shoud be 12 inches from the center of the palte to the ground. 22 inchs from center of headlights to the ground. you would be better off putting yoru stick rims back on for safety. and then swap them back afterwards. where do you live?? i might have a connection. also tint needs to be legal kine tho .

i'm heavily considering putting back my stock rims on my car just in case. and putting back my stock axleback on for good measure.
Anyone have any ideas? I live in kaimuki btw ^^

it seems like EVERY service station is different. Some people do the whole sha-bang, like lift up your car, check the tires, etc. But others just walk around the car and do the basic stuff like lights.
Weird crap. Btw, recon is and always was a b*tch to get. The thing is a joke, everyone hates it. My particular experience with getting just a safety check involved the guy revving my engine once for no apparent reason .. (my stock axleback was on, the car was quiet as f*ck.. )

BUT, if you ask around to whomever, and kinda stake out a few stations, ... you'll find someone who will give you a safety check. Kinda sounds corny, But it is worth it IMO.

I had to go to get a safety check since mine expired in april, and I got turned down yesterday... the guy claimed i needed recon for my ride height, exhaust, big wing, hood scoop, and "definately, the BBS rims are not stock!"
I got pissed at him... told him call up subaru to check... he said no because he "knows for sure"... i got pissed, got out of my car so he then asked the year and model then he went inside and actually called a Subaru dealer and asked. He then came outside and complained that he called but still he wouldnt give me a safety check sticker because of my brackets (for the safety check sticker) being right by the license plates. He said all safety check stickers must be on the right bottom side of the bumper... I claimed that Subaru offered if i wanted it on my plates but my plates didnt come in at the time so they just put it on my bumper...so i didnt expect that brackets right next to your plates would be unexceptible. He told me "THEN GO TO SUBARU TO DO YOUR SAFETY CHECK CUZ I DONT WANT TO GET A CITATION" So i left wit anger...
sorry for the long story... anyway, is putting your safety check on or right by your license plate not actually allowed? or is this guy just being a *****? because i know a lot of ppl do it...

what exactly do you have on your car? if, your car looks some what "stock" w/ just
drop & rims & tint & exhaust (you can try go to GX Auto, but I can't say for sure that they
would pass your vehicle!!) if, not your can try go to CHERVON gas station in Kailua, I have
as friends that got safety check over there, but there cars were not completely modified...
