I just took my GC8 to a safety inspection place today and they wouldn't clear me.
They said my JDM clear corners and red/clear tail lights were not legal.
I kinda figured about my front clear corners, but I thought the JDM tail lights were legal?
I mean... my M3 has red/clear tail lights without any amber anywhere.. and that came as stock that way.

Anyone know for sure about the JDM tail lights?

I passed my recon yesterday, however, I didn't pass the first time. Was also finally able to get my safety check since my recon was straight. Haappy days are here again. I say just get the recon and then your safety check will be cake.

That sucks... since the tail lights were a ***** to install.
Anyone know where I can buy some orange film?
Does Recon count for the tail lights too?

Also... I'm not fully sure about what is stock and what isn't on the Impreza since it was partially modified when I bought it.
I changed out a lot of the white bulbs to amber so far.
Also... the blinker on the bumper.. the blinker cover is clear... is it supposed to be clear?

Hmmm... I can't find amber... but I found red.

Anyone know if all red can clear?

the only lights that weren't stock when i traded it in were the front turn signals and the side markers. YES recon counts for ANYTHING you change out on your car, or at least thats what the law says. some ppl know ppl who get their saftey, some ppl just get lucky. i'm not saying you won't get lucky and pass, but if you going by clear definaition of the law then any mods at all req recon and therefore are req for safety.

Thanks for the info. I'll see what I can do. At least I still got a bit over 2 weeks before the tags expire. Worse comes to worst... at least I still got those amber tail lights.

You need DOT stamps on your lights, not just SAE. I have heard of people not getting safety check/recon because of OEM spoiler 3rd brake light did not have DOT stamps.

I've got like over 8 recon tickets. I learned, got recon, and now the cops dont bother me. Pretty much just dont lower your car too much. Keep a little wheel gap, legal tint, and noting too flashy. You really dont need recon if you dont slam your car, have legal tint, and your exhaust isnt too loud. Tickets suck
