i remember smoke coming out of my hood scoop long time ago. lots of it. turns out the oil feed line to the turbo had a hairline crack and was dripping onto the downpipe. findlay subaru warrantee'd it even with all my mods.

It sounds like it was running too rich for some reason and it was damaging the cats and that is why the check engine light was flashing. most of the time that the check engine light flashes is to warn that the cats are in danger of getting damaged.

how'd you blow a head gasket and how'd you come to the conclusion that the head gasket was blown? do you have pictures of this... i'd really like to see it?

what type of car is this?

a blown head gasket throws the CEL now? how many miles? ive been stomping on my 94 for the last 103k ( original ) miles with no problems at all, save for a ripped CV boot. how many miles are on yours?
