rx8 or wrx?

today i just went to test drive an rx8 at cutter ala moana. the car is bad *** and the inside is really nice. i was surprised at how roomy the interior was. everything was in leather with 18 inch rims, sway bars for 30 grand(msrp). mazda is currently having really good deals like 0% financing and rebates. i havent test drove a wrx yet but this is a really hard decision to make. the wrx is a little cheaper and aftermarket parts is a lot cheaper. please give me your opinions to help my decision.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find a rx-8 at msrp

I considered the RX-8 but in the end it came down to reliability. I'm not saying the RX-8 is bad but it is the 1st year production of the new Renesis motor so I decided to stay away.

i think you need to go take a look at an STI if your looking into spending 30K but if i where you i'd test drive a wrx and an STI and see what the hype is all about

The RX-8 was falsely advertised at 247 but it actually has 238 after a last minute EMS reprog. See message below. The RX-8 looks fast but the STi is fast.

Mazda Overstates RX-8 Power

Mazda has revealed that it published an inaccurate horsepower rating for its new RX-8, Reuters reported.

Mazda had advertised the RX-8 as having 247 horsepower (hp) for the manual transmission version sold in the U.S. and 207 hp for the automatic. In fact, the sports car's rotary engine puts out 238 and 197 horsepower, respectively.

Mazda says that the advertising was written before the company altered engine specifications to meet U.S. fuel efficiency standards, the story said.

Mazda has offered to buy back RX-8s from any dissatisfied owners. So far, around 30 owners have sold back the car, at the original sticker price of $27,200 for the manual version and $25,700 for the automatic, a company spokesman said. As of the end of August, Mazda had sold 3,565 RX-8s.

For owners who choose to keep their RX-8s, Mazda is offering $500 in credit for gasoline and free maintenance for four years, or for the first 50,000 miles.

This is not the first time Mazda has had to buy back vehicles. In 2001 Mazda offered to buy back 3,500 Miata models it sold because it overstated the horsepower.

and everyone and their Grandmother will have an rx-8. Do you know how many rx-8's I see at work everyday, already? There are just as many rx-8's as wrx's.

........ but if that's what you're looking for in a car anyway, ... don't buy a wrx or sti.

One thing to think about,

are you planning to upgrade components? If so the WRX has far more aftermarket potential in my opinion.
