ok if you still want to do this you need to look at what i posted up there instead of asking question after question. secondly learn something about the subaru that you have and find out how our AWD system works before doing something liek this.

the short answer is that you'll have to remove your transmission. this can be done by removing your turbo back exhaust, drive shaft, front suspension ,front axles front hubs (if you want to do it right instead of putting additional stress on your front suspension), then finally the transmission.

then you'll have to open up the transmission and change the center differential with one of the items that i post up earlier. again this is NOT for the faint at heart and this is a VERY difficult task IF you don't know what you're doing.

GOOD LUCK!

Jon

I agree with Jon it is a very technical undertaking and if you are a novice to the drift world it wouldnt be wise to spend so much time and money only to crash and from my drifting friends on the mainland they say you WILL crash. All of the drift subarus I have seen have been driven by pros so to me all the money you would spend on doing this would be better spen buying a cheap 240sx or RX-7 and getting some cheap tires from a junkyard you can burn through while you learn. Thats just my $.02 but your car is about you and you should do what makes you happy

Its free, just go tax some Zippys trays Cheeeeeeee hoooo.

Or buy a 240, get good at drifting start a team, get sposorships, and then try the project when you can afford top mechanics. Not really worth it to completely change a car that is designed for AWD when there are already cars that have a tried and true successful platform. Just my $.02

the reason for this is because im kinda sick of seeing all the other brands drifting and quite frankly i wanna see a wrx drift in rwd status.
im sorry i have to say something here. so you mean you want to be the wrx drifter here in hawaii? i dont know but we dont have a track anymore so it be illegal and dangerous to be drifting here.

not bashing you or anything but if you said you wanted to be unique and go rwd, then id say go for it.

good point Myron...

Please keep in mind that as a club HIIC does NOT like to be apart of a stereotype that MOST car clubs have. If you do want to EXPERIMENT on your own on how things will be with a RWD Subaru then you should definately research what you're getting into. Also you should make sure you understand your AWD system first.

According to your SN it appears that you have an STI. Your STI has a DCCD control system you are able to make your Front to Rear bias more rear with the system that comes stock in your car. what I would do is LEARN about that system as well.

IT IS possible to "drift" an AWD car provided that you have the right setup and the ABILITY and the speed to accomplish it.

TO MY KNOWLEDGE there is NO RWD subaru on this island. I would stand corrected if I saw one.

before AWD subaru made FWD (i could be wrong though)

have fun learning.

Jon

Please don't take what I'm saying personally. I know that there are a lot of SENSITIVE people on this board now a days and get easily offended. My thing is why don't you learn about what you have first BEFORE trying to modify it into something else.
