you don't necessarily need a tune just for that plumbing. but to get the best benefit from those parts...yes you do.

Maybe it's for the upcomming car show??? But I agree with VRT MBasile, if your going to put a FMIC on a stock turbo WRX, your going to increase your turbo lag.

FMIC = Bling

Stickers will decrease your lag.

It's usually a good idea to do mods one at a time to ascertain the effectiveness of the mod. When you do several at once, you're left guessing as to which was positive or negative. There are exceptions.

I ran the stock turbo with my fmic at the track in Oahu. I had an intake, TBE, boost controller, header and fmic (no tune, but a wideband O2). I was as fast or faster than the STIs at the track (I was much lighter).

The ECU and AVC-R took a few days to adjust to the fmic, but when they did the pull from 5000 to redline was very strong, as opposed to before when the pull up top just wasn't very strong.

The craze of buying the biggest fmic that will fit is usually overkill for all but the largest turbos IMO.

You don't really need a tune.....But, if you want to maximize all your parts for peak HP gain, A tune is the way to go. It will be the best money you'll spend on your WRX. For tuning, I recommend buying an Cobb Accessport with a custom map by PDXTuning.

I've never understood this logic. Just because you have the money doesn't mean you HAVE to spend it. Keep saving up until you can afford both. OR, buy the FMIC if you just HAVE to get it, but don't install it until you get the turbo.

FMIC isn't going to make your car any faster overall, it's just going to give you turbo lag to redline.

^^^to answer your initial question, no. your car will be fine. But as stated above...to benefit, a tune would be best.

I'm assuming that you also have a aftermarket cat-back exhaust too, correct?

When you install an uppipe, downpipe, and full cat-back exhaust, you can still run your car without a tune, it will run ok but not really great. Having a tune that includes those parts will greatly help your car gain power, and not only that, help it run smoother too....

If you currently don't have a tuning device, I recommend buying an Cobb Accessport. It's worth every cent....
