Yeah I know how you feel about people coming in and trying to bargain. When I had my shop, Evolution Performance,I felt the same way you do. Just gotta separate friends from business. Business is business, and friends should know that and if they are true friends, they will support you.
As far as regular people just coming in and asking for discounts, they are jerks.

Asking for discounts right off the bat, to me is rude...and you will probably get a lot of customers like that...everybody loves to save money. As for myself, all I want is a fair price. The intelligent customer will have shopped around and can quote prices from the competition (not bogus prices though!). Take DVDs for example, most stores carry Best Motoring DVDs for $19.99 + tax, but unfortunately if you want the most recent ones there is only one place to get them- @ $29.95 + tax (you know how I feel about that Stan). As a customer, I just want a fair and competitive price, I don't like to feel that I got reamed...dash all.
