Removing Cruise Control?
I searched here and at Nabisco but couldn't find an answer to my question.
I want to remove the cruise control unit (05 WRX, non-DBW) since I never use it and it's taking up some valuable real estate that could be better used for a catch can or something. The actual removal looks stupidly easy... but will I throw a CEL when I unplug it? Any other potentially nasty side effects from the removal? Thanks.

should not be any side effects cruise control should be completely independent. as a matter of fact I don't think there should be any CEL's considering my 03 motor swap to 97 chassis does not have cruise control installed and I have yet to see a CEL for it. hope this helps

For the record, the cruise control came off almost as easily as I thought it would. The biggest hang-up was how tight the working quarters were (more skinned knuckles). So far, no CEL or other troubles, just as everyone said.
