recon worth it to get it?
Hey guys so ive been seriously considering going in to try & get recon for my car. There really is nothing illegal to my car. i have springs on my car & its really not that low like it could possibly pass as stock. I do hhave exhaust but its not loud at all & it looks like i could be a factory exhaust.
my tinit is legal so i dont have to worry about that & i am on STi rims. What is kickin my *** right now is the dreded recon bounce test. i heard STi suspension stock isnt passing over there. WTF!?
Should i just say screw & not waste my time? or maybe go in and try? i mean im just on progress drop springs right now...help me out guys what do you think?

For suspension mods, be sure to bring in your alignment papers, thats the first thing the guy asked me for. He also told me that recon doesnt even check exhaust when I told him I got pulled over for "loud muffler". Good luck

I say it's worth it. I mean $30 won't break your bank, and the way I see, it's one less reason for a cop to pull you over. Another thing to think about is getting safety check every year. Just an FYI, I passed with Tein SS coilovers. Get it and forget about it!

Yes recon is worth it, its simple for most people and you just have to do research for it. And if you ever need to sell the car with current parts on, no one would buy it without a recon.

It's that little extra piece of mind...
that third sticker to the right with the "R" in it...sometimes it's your ticket to paradise...
If a police officer feels like it, they will pull you over regardless...but the Recon Sticker may save you the hassle sometimes.
I would do it...I did it 3 years ago...no regrets...make sure they annotate on the recon papers that you have an aftermarket exhaust on...even though they don't check for it...
I would also put down generic terms like:
Custom Coilover Suspension
or
Sti Stainless Steel Exhaust
If you put name specific brands down on the Recon paper, and they check to see if it matches...and it doesn't...back to recon you go...

In an '02 remember to either borrow somebody's fog light covers (the full on covers not the mesh ones) OR to make sure the lights are a certain height from the ground ( I think 10-12 inches or something). Doesn't matter if they're stock or not once you go recon.

yes, it's worth getting the recon...after waiting for 30 days, i finally went in today...and passed!!! you have to make sure that your suspension gets at least 2" bounce or push as hard as you can when they ask you to. the inspector thought mine's pretty stiff..
make sure your alignment papers are current (30days), intake and other accessories in your engine are bolted down. the inspector also measured everything like bumper height and suspension travel...go to forumshawaii and read the sticky before making your appointment...good luck!
