i've heard from that dude from advace grafix that you can use a AWD car for drift, is this true or would you recomend just a RWD car??? thinking of picking one up and checking your guys track.

no problem dude...the tamiya TL-01 is a GREAT cheap car to start drifting with...drifts really good too...drifts better than my HPI pro 4 which cost 3x as much...in grip racing, the pro 4 will kill it though...

i get my stuff from advance graphics, but then again, i'm friends with the owner...

I was in Japan last week and walked into a Hobby Shop with a bunch of Tamiya RC cars including this one:

http://www.tamiya.com/english/produc...2004/index.htm

which was going for less then 100 US$...

What's the average price here in Hawaii?

take the electronics (servo and receiver) out of your HPI gas car...you can use those and your current controller in the TL-01...all you'll need is a cheap electronic speed control (ESC), preferably with reverse...as for changing stuff out, dont really need to do it...getting a one way diff would be nice though (but not necessary)...and we just use ABS plastic piping on the stock rims for drifting...i dunno if you already have a charger or not...

TL01 kit: $100
ESC: 50-100
one way diff: 30
charger: 35
battery: 15-30 depending on how long you wanna be playing for
plastic tires: $1 (yep, one dollar- from advance graphics)

or check around, as you can probably pick up a used kit for cheap...

like i said i go to eric at advance graphics...mention me (jayson) and barry (bdrift) or even vern (scubaru) and he'll probably hook you up...

it may sound like a lot, but we have fun...and eric is one of those who helps to set up the track and provide the "dots" for when we play, so it's nice to support him...your best bet is to call him, and check how much everything will cost...he may have some stuff for cheaper than what i mentioned, so dont let the initial start up cost scare you...

as for me, my touring car has about $750 into it, and that doesnt include the controller (another 375)...and a TL01 will beat it around a drift track...on a grip track though, it'll kill almost anything else...but i use mine to drift anyways and have fun...
