R&D to the rescue...Thanks!

So, I'm on my way home from work when all of a sudden, water gushes out of my reverse hood scoop toward my windshield!

I pull over as quickly as I can, all the while, glancing at my temp gauge...which was creeping up...

Water/Anti-freeze all over the place...

I make a quick call to Ryan, he hooks me up with Peter his ace tow truck driver, alerts Davin and Jimi...Davin calls in a radiator for me and now my car is safe in their hands.

If it wasn't for R&D, I don't think I would still own my Subaru. Even though it has been, for the most part, trouble free...typical maintenance items like brake pads/rotors, clutch, and now this radiator...most of my stg4 mods have been carefully put together by these three great mechanics.

A big thanks to R&D Automotive.

Brent

yep...

Living in Alaska...I seldom saw any radiator failures...here though, I've noticed quite a bit more...I'm sure due to the heat.

I just talked with Bran808 and he said his failed at 30K...at least mine lasted till 83K...

Thanks Nevin...

I wish I would have taken everyone's warnings about the premature failure of our radiators more seriously and replaced it with a Koyo or similar racing type...as it is, since I have no choice, I will be getting mine replaced with a similar one (I think) from Performance Radiator...Davin is picking up the radiator on his way in this morning...I really don't have choice as to what I can get at this point.

I'm serious though...I don't think it could have gone smoother...as far as breaking down in traffic and getting the car to the shop...Those guys are Pro's...a few calls and you are set.

My fear is always having my car damaged by a tow truck driver...but Peter (Kamaaina Towing?) is awesome. I can see why Ryan and Davin always use him.

OK if I have to take my car cross-country due to promotion...I am getting a Koyo or Mishimoto radiator put in first.

I think you would have to either flat bed the car or hitch the front and dolly the rear tires to safely tow the car...

It's funny how people tend to forget about support systems on their cars when modding, I know I get lazy too and usually change a radiator when it goes bad, rather than upgrading early...

Davin, Ryan, and Jimmy are da bomb. I can't stress how nice it is to have knowledgable mechanics who will actually speak with you about what needs to be done.

On a side note... 100k and my radiator is still kickin!

R&D should stock up on Aluminum Radiators (Koyo). I would buy one...
I think I***u Radiators carries aluminum,..not sure if they carry good kind stuff though...used their stuff before and its ok...

30k seems too early to break on you, and around 70k or more seems about right,....I would change the hoses at about >35k miles too as not expensive to do with rubber unless you go silicone...

Wait till all the little hoses start to go or when the clamps eat at the rubber,..those are hard to track and find..

Shin is right...flat bed or at least get all wheels off the ground not rolling.

Brent, glad to hear your car was taken care off. I used Kama'aina Towing aka Peter last year twice, he is friendly and professional. Your car is in good hand with him. For R&D, your car is fixed same day or 2 days if part(s) not available.

yes...Here is Peter's phone number.

Here is Peter's Cell...

306-3992

Everyone, put this number in their Cell right now...

He basically tows all of R&D's cars to them...he lifts all 4 wheels, the rears with the dolly...very careful and professional.

BTW...I spoke with Davin, and he can bring in Mishimoto radiators fast and cheaper than the Koyo's...

Yeah apparently Mishimoto is easier to come by and cheaper.

Not sure if there's a big difference between the two but as long as the welds are good and the thing cools water I guess it is GTG.
