Quick Ratio Steering Column, Only For Wrx Racks
Guys, found another alternative to a quick steering rack. Pat, found a site which I have already contacted and struck a group buy. Cost will be about $450 for a quick ratio steering column (Shipped to Hawaii). This will provide WRX's 2 turns lock to lock and can only be used on the WRX rack. So, for STI guys, you can use this option, but would have to use a WRX rack, not the STI rack. It takes about 4 weeks from order date to be completed and shipped. This is a group buy deal. So those of you really intested, please PM me. I will definitely be making this purchase if I decide not to sell my car.

Guys, just talked to the manufacturer and he does not have any stock columns to modify. I plan to pull mine if I do not sell my car and send it in for him to do his stuff. PM me if you want to do it!

Aaaahhhhh! Now that I've seen the pictures, I know what they've done. I've seen this topic come up on the NASIOC forums. What they're doing is incorporating a Howe steering reducer into the steering column. You can get the reducer itself from Summit or various circle track racing suppliers for about $150-160. Then you just need some adapters and someone who can weld.

I'd really have to see/drive one to have any opinion. I don't know how widely used the Howe reducers are in the racing world - it may or may not be up to the rigors of daily driving, potholes, etc etc. And to me, just imaging how it would feel, steering that is 50% quicker seems like a pretty big jump. I dunno, I'd be really interested to try one out.

Pat, I plan to put one in or upgrade my rack. Either way, I'm going to a quicker steering set up eventually. I'll let you know what I think after it's done. I did however drive an EVO, and I loved the quick steering.

love a test ride, but don't know if I can live without my rack for the time it would take to modify it. Would also be interested in the durability. I haven't driven an EVO, hell, I haven't driven an STI either.

Guys, I'm just awaiting availability for my colume. Do any of you want to take advantage of this deal? It's not that difficult to install. I will be doing mine and am happy to help anyone else. Certainly it is a little cheaper to buy the ratio quickener, like Pat mentioned, but I don't have access to a welder and would rather just buy a bolt in replacement than do the fitment and fabrication myself. In addition, it's hell of a lot cheaper and less work than to replace the entire rack. BTW, a core exchange is not worth it as it is only $75 and shipping is not that cheap from Hawaii.

I'm kicking myself in the a$$ right now! I had the opportunity to buy an STi rack for dirt cheap, but I was under the impression that there was no difference between the WRX and STi racks.
I'm interested, but I'm still undecided. I still prefer the other rack, but it doesn't seem like we'll have enough for a group buy.
