I've seen pictures of an ESX car with an inverted hoodscoop, but it also had a fmic.

If I don't relocate my radiator under my hoodscoop or place an oil cooler in that area, I may reverse my scoop and give it a try. I was never one for looks . . . the o.g. hiic guys know what I'm talking about (my ish is the ghetto mobile with a hot sauce bottle that plugged one of my extra oil breathers ).

But anyways, what's with the pissing contests? This is a far cry from the hiic that I remember.

Back to the main subject: Congrats JT-STI and great driving!

For the last time you can't just turn the scoop around. It doesn't fit correctly. Try it, and you'll see.

let the guy setup and tune his car the way he wants. if he does well, then great for him. if he doesn't, then we can all say "we told you so."

i think its more of ideas clashing than pissing, at least i know im not pissing on anyones cherrios, i hope. its my idea i gave to JT-STi that baffled everyone. owell, whatever he does to make his car faster i hope it works, im sure he'll come out of the event a little richer. but to prevent this from happening on my end, ill ask GDOGG if what im posting is retarded, and if it is ill go back to the drawing board.

Cool! Finally the import quick 8 will be competitive!!! the difference in times for the people that qualified last race was pretty ridiculous. Even I qualified *lol*

12.5 might get you the #8 spot in the quick 8. Not a bad thing as all quick 8 cars get atleast $70. Hopefully I can get in there. It's going to suck to get knocked out in the 1st rd, but atleast you get your entry fee back.

I'm still glad you did that. Wish you wouldn't have gotten 5th, though.

Man like I said I was at the last street car shootout, and a stock galant ran a high 15 or 16 and was the 8th quickest import out there.

yeah thats the car, when the driver pulled his record run, he had turned the scoop turned around cowl style and the wing was off.
I really have no idea how the scoop was, but you do realize that ESX does not run a top mount intercooler... in fact they don't even run a front mount. They run a liquid intercooler that they fill with ice ever run. I have seen the car up close at the East Coast Subbie shootout a 2 years ago when it was running 9.7X

I really think that the scoop turned around on a car running a top mount is just asking for trouble... email the guys at ESX. I am sure they will offer input, or even any of the top tuners (Vishnu, TSX, etc...) If this was really a benefit you would think that they would all say this... I have seen a lot of 11 second WRX's and not one of them is running with the scoop turned around (granted they could seeing that they are all running FMICs)

20-40 hp gain with a chiller sounds possible. heat soak is a bizach. my old colt w/ 4g63 would stupid fry 1st, 2nd and 3rd when cold and then when at the track in both lanes, i could barely spin 1st. 2nd zero spin and it wasn't a traction issue. the power sucked. turning off the car in line helps but you still get soak from the engine.

chillers rock. friend's car had a homemade chiller(fuel cell and bilge pump / spearco) on a sr20de(not det) w/ turbo was busting 12's all night long w/ bad traction.

just don't do it on a daily unless you got some other heat exchanger.
