Power Window Woes...PLEASE READ...I'm stumped.
Couple days ago my pass side power window got stuck down. I took it all apart and tested all the wires going to the motor. They all have power, so I fig the motor is fried. I ordered a new motor from subaruparts.com and when I went to hook it up, it won't work either. There are two wires going to the motor, they both read nothing when the window switch is inactive, but when the switch is pushed, either up or down, they both read +12, no matter what position the switch is in. I'm thinking that I don't have 2 bad window motors, but that this is an electrical problem, w/ wires crossed somewhere else, because I would think that the two wires going to the motor would read differently when the switch is pushed up or down. Like one would be +12 when its up and the other would be 0 and vice versa. If anyone has any ideas on this, or knows how to locate an electrical problem, I could really use some help.

Maybe it's a ground control system? Check the ground for the motor... What about the relay?
Did you test to see if you could raise the windows with the r/f sub switch as opposed to trying it from only the master switch?

Heheheh, sorry. I just meant the r/f window switch (and not the master control on the driver's door).

The reason I ask is we had Lexus customers left and right claiming that their passenger front window motors were "burnt out"! Sure enough you try and roll the window up/down from the driver's master switch and it wouldn't work.
Hop over to the r/f seat and use the switch and the window worked fine. It turned out to be the master window switch.
Just hopin' it's something simpler than having to track down a open-circuit or short in the whole wiring harness.

oh yea I've been trying both switches, the motor sees a voltage change when either switch is operated, it just doesn't run. I guess its possible I could have received a bad motor, but it seems to me that the motor should receive different voltages for up or down, unless its got some kinda thing in it that makes it so it only runs one way but the window goes up or down, no on second thought, that would be impossible. I think I might be seriously tearing into my electrical system on sunday, anybody wanna give me a hand, I'll provide beer and pizza.

Well, I examined the driver's side, my motor isn't bad at all. The window motor is supposed to see +12 volts on one wire and +1 volt on the other wire, when being rolled up or down, the direction of the motor is determined by which wire gets +12 and +1. On my pass side, both wires see +12 when the switch is pushed either way. Any ideas on what could cause this.

Short in the switch?

Brento gets the cookie. I was at taco bell and my gf rolled down the windows, then the pass side window wouldn't roll up. Must have pushed the switch then. But I got it all back together now and I fixed the pass side lock that had been punched out when some a$$hole tried to jack my ride.
