225/40/18 BFG G Force Sport (Wife's Legacy) Best OA value in a tire, in my opinion. Daily Driven, great wet traction,as well as dry. 340 treadwear. I autocrossed as well as driven "spirited" in all conditions. My only con with these tires is after they have worn out a little they become a little noisy. If I was in the market for a new set of tires I'd highly consider getting another set of these! I would also consider Dunlop's Direzza Star tires. These are a compromise of pure performance vs durability. If I was in the market for pure street tire performance, the list would be as follows:
Falken 615's
Bridgestone RE O1R
Yokohama Advan Neovas
BF Goodrich G-Force KD
Federal 595 RS
Hankook Ventus RS2 Z212
Laugh at the last 2,but I ran the RS's w/great success autocrossing. I think the results show that fact!! I was only on 215/45/17s but I was able to beat all other street tired competitors, even an RX8 running 275's all the way around!!

225/45/R17 Kumho Ecsta MXs - Daily Driving (with some spirited).

They are alright when you're doing some backroads driving, but they are CRAP everywhere else IMO. Too loud, too rubbery feeling.

Car Info: MkIII MR2, s14, 94 mx5, 99 mx5. The beauty of rwd.
Auto-x : Kumho v710's great traction and lasts a long time.
: previous tires kumho ecsta v700 ( crappy, didn't grip well, or wear well )
: previous tires Kumho victorracers ( good tires, less grip than v710's but lasts a long time too )
: hoosier a6's ( an old used set, good initial grip, but loses grip and tread very rapidly.
: BFG g-force r1 ( old set - good grip, good wear, also discontinued )

Street: if cheap, kumho 711's ( cheap and initially kinda grippy, but loses grip really fast. and doesn't wear well )
: BFG g-force sports - good overall street tire.
: kumho ecsta MX - high grip and good wear, + CHEAP!!!
: toyo T1-R - high grip, a little flexy but overall a very competent tire.
: dunlop dz101 - on par with BFG g-sports, goov overall street tire.

Finally for optimum performance, never forget the ubiquitous bridgestone RE92 Great grip, no sidewall flex, and extremely good wear.

wagon: street tires 225/45/17 bridgestone potenza re-01r
auto-x 225/50/16 kumho v700
previous street tires were Avontech 550AS, and the oem potenza re070

legacy: 225/35/18 yokohama parada spec-2

yaris: 195/50/15 hankook ventus rs-2 z212

All these tires are great street tires, and with exception to the parada spec-2's all have made awesome track tires.
