Porsche Project Plans

Here's a pic of the motor:

Nice eh?

I'll be redoing all the vacuum lines and trying to clean up the engine compartment by removing a few things. I'll also be installing my Cusco catch can and moving the intake over to the driver's side so that the intercooler pipes can be replace w/ something straighter (& shiney). Of course I gotta put a BOV in it *lol*. The exhaust side will be done too and I'm planning to dump the external wastegate to atmosphere w/ a removable piece that lets me tie it back in to the exhaust if I need to be quieter. Stay tuned

What are the specs as it stands? (That's my way of saying, I don't know what I'm looking at.) I can't tell how there is any room for a turbo. Is it a disco potato? Is the IC air to air? What is the enthusiasts' opinion of that stock intake mani? Any good? I'm guessing it is since it's on a Porsche.

Did you buy the 88 944 turbo that was in the Previews newspaper?

No, this ones a '89 (same specs as a '88 Turbo S).

Pat,
The turbo is buried under the intake manifold just driver's side of the center line. I thought only Suby's had an uppipe but this motor has one too. The exhaust manifold is on the passenger side and then crosses over to the driver's side where the turbo is. It has a front mount IC located high in the nose. The two black hard pipes on either side of the air box are the IC pipes.

Sweet. What hp/tq is it rated for? What do you think of the suspension? I'm guessing IRS. Have you done a comp test and/or leakdown?

I don't mean anything by all of the questions. I'm just excited for you and wish I could have found a deal like that (or more apt, I wish I could buy all of the cherry cars I come across.)

247hp stock w/ a 8:1 compression so it can handle more boost. It's a 2.5L motor w/ a 8 valve head. Many have gotten a reliable 350 rwhp w/ bolt ons.

I like the stock suspension. The one I have has the upgraded suspension package from the factory. Stiffer adjustable Koni up front and torsion bars out back and larger anti-roll bars. Brakes are awesome stock 4 piston calipers made by Brembo. The '89 cars get the brakes from the larger and heavier Porsche 928S4. Wheels are forged 16x7 up front and 16x8 rear.

I had a mechanic (Porsche specialist) look over the car b4 I bought it and everythings good (comp test - SAT). It does need to have the front wheel bearings adjusted but I'm just gonna replace them w/ new bearings.
