Pix from 6/25/06 Maui SCCA Solo 2.
Here's a pic of my race car/daily driver at yesterdays Maui SCCA Solo 2 race.
The course was really wide open and favored cars with a lot of power. My STi did well in SM, beating all the CSP "handling" cars. With R-compounds, the car could be a monster.

Here's a pic of my friend driving my car during fun-runs. Yes, I let another racer drive my car.

We are trying to promote our events to all racers even those on outer islands. If you can make the arrangements, Maui SCCA will provide the venue for the race (lunch, snacks and beverages included).
Now I just need to get more Maui STi owners to race. They don't realize how much fun it is to drive an STi at the limits.
b drift, at the next race you attend I'll let you drive my car. I had so many requests by other drivers to drive my car (course designer and one of the instructors) that I kinda didn't respond to your request. Next time, hit me up.

Damn , vacation denied again , too bad I couldn't make it down . Ed , I'm not too sure on running the gt-35r on that track , I need to get a feel on how to handle the car first before I try running the course . I've also heard that the gt-35r really sucks doing autocross , truth or fiction ? laters ............

Before you do the turbo mod, you may want to drive the car stock to see how a bone stock car handles. That way you can see the difference between the two turbos.
Autocross places an emphasis on turbo response versus ultimate top end power. That's why you want to create the most responsive setup. IMO FMICs and large compressor wheel turbos don't do well on short and tight autocross courses.
IMO the GT35 will be really laggy on the autocross course and along with your FMIC will probably be quite laggy on the course. Don't get me wrong...once that turbo builds boost, it'll be a monster, but it may take so long to get there that a much more responsive turbo will be long gone.
The ideal setup is probably the stock turbo with a TMIC. That stock turbo is so responsive that you don't have to wait for boost to build. I've had other drivers, including driving instructors, tell me that my car feels like a V8 or a supercharged car due to the quick spool of the VF39.
Your planned turbo will probably be great for the drag races and top speed runs on 5 mile, but pretty laggy for autocross.
For my future turbo build-up I'll focus on a modest increase in whp (maybe 400), but try to shoot for as responsive a turbo as I can find. If it doesn't exist, I'll stick with the VF39.

Thanks for the response Ed , I don't have the stock tmic someone jacked it from the car shop who installed my aps intercooler . I'm not racing until probably october because I need to re-map my ecu again (running lean ) . According to I-speed it could be due to my cold air intake and maf sensor , so it's back to the drawing board . I don't intend to install the gt-35r until august , because I'd like to make sure everything is done right . By the way , it's a crawford performance cp-35r kit ( damn great looking kit ) . I know it was bloody expensive about $4,250.00 shipped . Anyway , talk to you guy's later on , peace ..............

Keoki,
I'd like to see it sometime. Peter and I are going to wrench on his car on July 15 at my place.
As for turbos, I'm considering a FP green or 20G. Not looking for a rotated mount, but a OEM mount instead.
