Has anyone here used Pinnacle waxes before? I've been a Zymol Carbon guy for a long time but I'm thinking about trying something new. I've read a lot about Pinnacle and supposedly it is of comparable quality but easier to use. As far as I know no one in Hawaii sells it.....only internet purchases. I'd appreciate any info from you guys especially if others are interested...maybe we can work on some type of group buy.

One more question. The Subaru letters will probably be coming of my STI this weekend and I'm wondering about the adhesive. I know a number of you have done this......will the adhesive come off with bug & tar remover or do you need to use something more aggressive? I've read about Goo Gone but that stuff is hella strong and I dont necessarily trust those citrus cleaners.

 

Check the link for de-badging. When I did my wagon I used WD40 and didn't bother with the hair dryer since it was a hot day. I did go through a bit of dental floss, but it was pretty easy.

For waxing, I only use Zaino...that stuff is the best. I've been using it on all my cars for a few years now. Should check out the s2k fourms...they talk a lot about it as well.

I just removed the Subaru letters last weekend from my car. instead of WD40, I used this 3M Adhesive remover (bought it at Checkers), works great!

 

I debadged my RS about two to three weeks after I bought it. I just carefully pulled the lettering off, then used goo-gone to take off the adhesive...

 

Hah, damn. Thought I was gonna be the only one to do this, for awhile atleast. =)

I use the 3m adhesive remove. Had a little tool that you just put a couple drops on and slowly push through down on. Works awesome and doesnt leave anything behind...

 

3m adhesive remover works wonders, dries out hands hella fast though, oh and also gets you high as a kite, even outdoors

 

Hah yeah, I used it once inside and not much ventilation, wow, what a rush. Think I was removing some labels from my laptop or something. Wont do that again.

 

Hahah.. Yup, I was feeling pretty good just taking off the badges. I was spraying that stuff on like there was no tomorrow.

I did make one small scratch, though , taking out the scratch is this weekends project.

I have this stuff called Rejuvinator, it almost looks like pepto. I used it on some scratches on my hatch, and it worked well. I was going to do that as my weekend project.

Instead I called my detailer friend, he said he'll take the scratch out for me. Its a light scratch, he said it's not too difficult.

 

Is everyone with a STi taking off their badges? I know i hate to have some punk use a screwdriver and steal it and scratch the paint in the process of stealing it.

Naw, leaving the STi on and crossing my fingers. I try not to take it to the malls and all. Stupid to not be able to drive your car where you want to, but oh well.

I couldnt imagine the damage from them ripping it off, ouch, was hard enough with adhesive remover and such, still scratched it very lightly.

 

Well I removed the subaru badging this morning and I didnt even need to use the 3m adhessive remover. I eas getting a little scared because it seemed WAY too easy. I used some fishing line and worked all the letters off, then just rolled the adhesive up into ***** like rubber cement. Was everyone else gooey because it was warm from the sun or something? I know one thread in another forum talked about using a blow dryer so I can see how that would do it. But I should just be happy I had no problems and no scratches.

I almost went ahead and pulled the WRX and STI badging....but decided to think about it.....

I would be extremely pissed if someone tried to pull.....I'd rather they just ask for it....I'd be much happier taking it of for them!

 

I still need to do this on my wagon. I've been saying "I'm gonna do it" for about 2 months now. Just lazy about the fishing-line and/or extension cord (ask Sean). now I'm drinking, so no driving until at least after lunch.
