Yup blurry but nice though... Tripod is mandatory for Night Shots, ie long shutter speed >1"

Tip: set your ISO higher at 800, with a good steady hand, you will get almost the same result as with tripod...

Thumbs up

Here is one at 6sec Shutter speed with Tripod and iso at 400, I would guess for iso 800, I would be able to shoot it at 1 or 2 sec easy with same result.

one more:

good tip Norris. However the key words in your posting are STEADY HAND. even though you think you're holding your camera steady your picture will tell you other wise if yo have blurrying or shifting. I would say for the BEST results us a tripod for your pictures. It might take longer but the end result is way better!

Also the higher the ISO speed the more sensitive to light the CCD or the Film will be. The lower the ISO speed the less sensitive to light but the SHARPER the image will be. The combination of shutter speed to aperture is important for a correctly exposed picture!

Norris, I'd be interested in seeing what you could do with my car.

Jon

- Newbie to photobucket... how do i post a picture that isn't cropped? I uploaded a picture that is 1440 x ??? but when it uploaded it changed to 700 x ???

photobucket states anything larger than 1MB will be automatically cropped. However my image was NOT 1MB it was 538K

Agree, for night shots, I would just play with the Shutter speed and let the cam set your aperture value for you. If one feels like playing with both Aperture and Shutter speed, be carefull with under or over exposure for the main subject. Steady Hand will never be as closed/ accurate as a tripod, that is why some mean @$$$ ones are really expensive!

Actually, I notice any pix larger than 500k will be cropped! but it should not limit you to post beautiful pix. Mines are usually cropped to 800 x whatever and automatically saves some size right of the back, ie < 500K and still keeps a good quality in the pix.

Note: Photoshop is your friendly tool to resize jpegs, but not cheating tool

Another tip: Resolution vs Quality? i would go with quality unless you do some poster printings, then you need better equipment, ie at least a 12MP DSLR camera.

Side note, I noticed more and more enthusiasts in photography, should we start a new photography thread? and make it a sticky!!!
