Performance Timer Accelerometers???

Anyone use any of these?

http://www.beltronics.com/fx.html

Just curious if anyone has used them at the track and seen how close they come to accurate times and such? My friend back in Vegas says his is pretty damn close and he uses it for practice a lot. Says "no installation"? What the hell? It can measure speed, 1/4 mile and such without installation? Wierd.

Thanks.

It was uncanny in it's accuracy. I'd say it's within a tenth or so of 1/4 mile time... MPH was 3-4mph different, but it was a great gauge of change in performance...

Hmm, friend has a mustang cobra and says he sees improvements each time he tweaks all the crud he has in his car. Only $250 or so too. I could find a empty road and see the 15s Im gonna run at the track.

Im a puss...

I will one of these days. Just still know I will make a complete idiot of myself. Need to hit a Wednesday or something when less people are there... I have practiced launches and I suck so bad its ashame. I feel like giving my keys to the next person I see.

Im used to the more forgiving nature of RWD and just feel more comfortable launching hard with RWD. Oh well.

Riiiight, riiiight.

I figure as long as I'm driving like a maniac but not against anybody (read: some 18 yr old in a 1987 CVCC), everybody's safe.

Yeah, I've got one of those G-techs. the $250 version. Sometime here in the next week, me and Dan will take it down to the gulch on his car. It is pretty damn accurate, but you have to really bend over backwards to make sure it's calibrated correctly.
