Pads yO!

I ordered some Ferodo 2500's from John a Brakeworld.com. Do you think I can get them in and brake them in before Auto-x?

What class you gonna be in Dan? You have any noticeable mods that will put you into ESP or whatever? Im stuck there since I have boost controller and probably other things. Not interested in being competitive, just want to have some fun. Just curious where everyone is.

I think you are in SM w/all of us. I race in SM but I should be in a differrent class, I think. I just have a DP right now.

If I don't do my brakes........I'll be in the "just watching class."

Dan
Your brakes are toast already?

Dave,
You'll be in SM with Dan if he's not in the watching class. It's all about having fun.

Yes they are.

My fronts are thin and are at the audible indicators. Three 20 minute track runs, 3 auto-x's and all the daily driving and H1 stop and go, have been hard on them.

From the Stoptech website, Testing Brakes with StopTech
Steve Ruiz suspected that the factory Brembo brakes had never been properly broken in, so he used that as an opportunity to spend some quality time with me (zooming to 100 mph, then standing on the brakes - over and over again) while casually explaining all the tests we would be running and how the data would be collected. Frankly, I think he was just trying to see how many g's I could take before throwing up. Fortunately, I don't get motion sick, but I now have an appreciation for what my customers go through when I take them along to break in their new brakes.

Steve was correct about the factory brakes not being bedded in. They went into green fade and then, after cooling off, felt much stronger than when we first tried them out. Now we could run a fair comparison test.

Stock pad put out a sh*t load of dust. Can't keep my wheels clean for more than three days.

You may want to try the Carbotech Engineering Bobcat pads. Those will probably be my replacements when the stock pad go.

Based on my primary requirements (street/autox) I'll probably go with the Bobcat pads.

Dan,
You probably figured it out, but that link also has the STi specific SS brake lines I mentioned.

San needs the extra bite of track pads for the "55MPH Cup Class" Competition racing series. That course to the PX and back is a tough one!

San and I talked about our aggressive driving techniques and we have agrees to mellow out a bit, so 40mph will be our top speed now. Maybe after we install full roll cages we will feel safer once again.

San come out to auto-x and no more of this.
