P2109 - Throttle/Pedal Postion Sensor

Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor A Minimum Stop Performance

This is a little long. But before proceeding, a BIG thank you to Brad(Teriyaaaaaki), and also Dan and Jarrad (PDX) for your expertise.

Well, my car suddenly started faltering coming down the Waipahu off ramp from fort weaver road yesterday. i was gonna go see the the guys at Rad Motorsports and appreciate the monster cars being dyno'd right after work...my car started shuddering, unresponsive, threw check engine light, idling rough, and just wanted to die out at 1500rpm even at full throttle...i was able to get it to Leoole St. right after the fire station.

I called Brad and he came by, and started working on it. Checked the engine, hoses, intercooler, oil, etc, but everything looked normal. Pulled the cells from my accessport and there were a couple of cells. I forgot the other codes but it has something to do with the maf sensor and air flow. Apparently, my maf sensor also got messed up. Luckily, Brad had an extra. Tried reseting the ecu and cleared the codes... but, the p2109 is still on and the engine is still runing like crap. Rechecked wires, sensors, all looked ok. After almost 1.5 hrs, we finally called Dan (who is with Jarrad at that time), gave them the code and Jarrad told us to check the throttle body for any debris or blockage. Brad got the throttle body cleaner, and when he looked inside, found a tiny pebble nicely wedged within the blades, enough for it not to open up. how this thing got in there? not sure, but we just changed my tmic a couple of weeks ago. After getting rid of that and cleaned it up, car ran perfect again!!!

I know I made it sound like it worked perfectly, but it did the way it is. It was a harrowing experience to see your car go thru this, especially if you are scheduled for a tune the following day and put a good chunk of time and dough to get it ready! I thought I'd post this just in case it happens to someone else.

holy crap, hopefully that was the only debris that made it in there jarrad mentioned that someone custom fabbed an fmic, but didnt clean the metal debris on the piping. those metal shavings got into the throttle body and jamed up the electric motor costing the owner of the car a new throttle body.

The good thing is "thank god" Jarrad is here to resolve many of our issues (speak of good timing). Would have been interesting if he wasn't here.

^^^amen to that! but things like these happen for a reason...and things were a little easier when people are there at the right time. if none of these guys answered their phones, i would've been lost.
